White Coats On, The Journey Begins

A milestone moment at AIMS&RC as we proudly welcomed the First Year MBBS Batch 2026–27 at the Inaugural Ceremony and White Coat Ceremony.

The event marked the official beginning of the students’ noble journey into the medical profession — “Beginning the Medical Journey.

The ceremony was graced by Sri. Amar Gowda, Vice Chairman, Akash Group of Institutions, Dr. Shiva Prakash N.C, Principal & Dean, and Dr. Brijesh K, Medical Superintendent, Akash Super Speciality Hospital.

The programme commenced with an invocation song by Dr. Dish*tha, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, symbolising the journey from darkness to knowledge.

The dignitaries and faculty members shared valuable guidance with the students on discipline, attendance, moral values, academic consistency, and the importance of Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry in their medical education.

A special highlight of the ceremony was the Donning of the White Coat, as faculty members from various departments welcomed the students into their professional journey.

The students also took the Charaka Shapath conducted by Dr. Anitha, Professor of Pharmacology, and the Medical Student Oath conducted by Dr. Nayana, reaffirming their commitment to the values and responsibilities of the medical profession.

The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Vidya S Joshi, Professor of Physiology.

The BEATS’26 Workshop and CME was held successfully at the Akash Institute of Allied Health Sciences with the participation of 125 students, including 41 students from external institutions such as The Apollo University, HCG College, Santha Group of Institutions, Devraj Urs Academy of Higher Education, Alluri Seetha Rama University, and Dayananda Sagar University, along with in-house students.

The programme began with a formal inaugural ceremony and lamp lighting, graced by Prof. Chaitra K.R. (Principal), Dr. Vasantha Kumar J. (HOD, Emergency Medicine), Dr. Shivananda K.N. (Professor & Head, Physiology), faculty members, and guest speakers. A quiz competition followed, setting an engaging tone.

Day 1 featured CME seminars on emergency medicine topics and hands-on workshops conducted in rotational batches of 30 students, ensuring effective skill-building. Lunch was provided, and the sessions ran smoothly.

Day 2 began with advanced workshops on trauma care, followed by poster presentations for first-year students, an e-poster competition, and a reel-making contest showcasing creativity. Afternoon CME sessions enriched academic learning.
The event concluded with a valedictory ceremony, where prizes were distributed to winners, and the organizing team delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks.

Overall, BEATS’26 was a resounding success, blending academic excellence, practical training, and creative student participation.

Milestone Achievement Unlocked!

The Department of Ophthalmology at AIMS&RC is proud to announce a significant advancement in our surgical capabilities. On July 15, 2026, our team successfully trained and performed implantation of a Scleral Fixated Intraocular Lens (SFIOL) using the innovative “XNIT Procedure.”

This advancement reflects our continuous endeavour to upgrade our skills and provide better visual outcomes for our patients.

A special congratulations to Dr. Pranitha Prabhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, AIMS&RC, for successfully performing this surgery and embracing advanced surgical techniques.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Noothana S, MBBS, DNB (Ophthalmology), Chief Managing Director, Ananthaksha Super Speciality Eye Hospital, for her expert guidance, mentorship, and training, which made this milestone possible.

Conceptualized and led by Dr. Neha Chauhan - (Consultant Plastic Surgeon & Assistant Professor), this impactful event focused on spreading vital awareness, debunking common myths, and showcasing the life-changing power of reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.

Empowering the Next Generation: A week-long series of awareness competitions engaged nursing staff, undergraduate, and postgraduate medical students.

Inspirational Guest Lectures: Renowned Plastic Surgeons Dr. B. G. Tilak and Dr. Pinky Devi shared incredible insights on how plastic surgery restores function, rebuilds confidence, and transforms lives.

Distinguished Leadership: We were honored to have the support of Dr. Naresh Shetty (CEO), Dr. Brijesh K.(Medical Superintendent), and Dr. Murthy Kumar (HOD, General Surgery) alongside our dedicated faculty.

💡 Expanding Our Clinical Horizons
Currently, the Plastic Surgery Unit at Akash Hospital delivers comprehensive care in reconstructive, aesthetic, burn, maxillofacial, and pediatric plastic surgeries.

To elevate patient care even further, we are actively upgrading our infrastructure to introduce advanced procedures, including:
