The Ramaiah Institute of Management hosted international students from Lewis & Clark College, Portland, US, on November 23, 2023, as part of their Study-India Program in Karnataka. During their three-month stay, the students had courses in different states and were exposed to Indian life and culture.

The Director of Ramaiah Institute of Management, Dr. Manasa Nagabhushanam, welcomed the Study-India group and engaged with them, discussing the various facets of the ‘Politics of Development.’ Dr. Anita R Singh conducted an interactive session on ‘Appreciative Inquiry as an Approach for Human Development and Sustainable Future.’

RIM's Centre for Leadership is organzing a Leadership talk by Mr. Tuhin A. Sinha, author and National Spokesperson of BJP, on 1st December on the topic 'VIKSIT BHARAT @ 2047: Opportunities and Challenges'. A brief about VIKSIT BHARAT: Viksit Bharat is India's BHAG - Big Hairy Audacious Goal and leap of progress to become a developed country by 2047. It is the vision to reach a massive GDP of USD 30 Trillion and with all the associated social development indicators like full literacy, very low infant mortality rates, stable level of population, drinking water and housing for all. Establishing all other civic amenities and public infrastructure both digital and and physical, synonymous with a developed country together with social peace and harmony.

Viksit Bharat, which translates to Developed India, is a multi-pronged initiative launched by the Indian government aimed at accelerating the development and progress of the nation. This ambitious initiative encompasses a wide range of sectors and seeks to address various challenges faced by India while promoting sustainable and inclusive growth.

RIM’s department of OB-HR organised a guest lecture by Ms Rashmi Prabha, GM and Global HR Head, Cloud and Infrastructure Services, Wipro, for the HR specialisation students of Sem III, Batch 22-24. Ms Prabha shared her expertise on various perspectives and dimensions of the HR functions applicable in today’s workplaces. Our students received incredible knowledge of the organisational challenges, such as generational diversity, burnout risk, skill gap due to improving industry trends, and remote workspace needs, in retaining employees.

Ms Prabha explained how various employee engagement strategies and prospects for improved career opportunities and personalised experiences are in place to ensure the physical, mental, and social well-being of their ‘most valuable assets’ – their employees.

During the Q&A session, Ms Prabha gave detailed insights into how automation has changed the HR division and how efforts are being made during exit interviews to retain skilful employees. This eventful lecture ended with discussions on career opportunities; our students had excellent take-aways.

RIM organised an industrial visit for Sem III, Batch 22-24 HR specialisation students to the Kelachandra Group at Embassy Gold Links Business Park. Mr Ujjal Gangopadhyay, the group’s Chief HR consultant, and his team graciously welcomed our students. They presented their business verticals and various resources, such as fire and safety, waste conversion, transport services, etc. They further highlighted the various HR initiatives within the EGL campus to motivate their employees and keep them happy, such as a well-kept canteen and medical services.

They were thrilled to state their implementation of HR policies on recruitment, ethics, grievance redressal, employee code of conduct, health facilities, competency-mapped training, new employee induction, and transparent communication have positively impacted their employees’ behaviour and performance. Our students learned that the HR department follows a PDCA approach (Plan, Do, Check, Act) to resolve issues and challenges.

Our students were elated to gain first-hand knowledge of the functions and roles of HR Managers and the HR Department’s relevance in bridging the gap between employers and employees.

At an age when many might consider it "too late," Ms. Aravind fearlessly set sail on the uncharted waters of entrepreneurship in her forties.

On Wednesday, October 18, Toyoda Gosei South India Pvt. Ltd. in Bidadi was visited by students from Senior Batch of Ramaiah Institute of Management, Bangalore. The visit had been orchestrated by Anita Singh and Dr. Varadharajan.
A comprehensive firsthand understanding was gained by the students on how the training of new staff and the coordination of robots, machines, and personnel come together to manufacture exteriors, interiors, safety systems, and painting products for clients in the automobile industry. The implementation of Japanese concepts such as Dojo, Kaizen, and Kanban was also observed.
In the afternoon, a farm in Bidadi was visited by the students to acquire insights into natural farming, a chemical-free farming system deeply rooted in Indian tradition. The guidance was provided by Prof. H.S. Jamadagni.
Our gratitude extends to the TGSIN team for the provision of a company overview and the organization of the production workshop tour, and to Prof. H.S. Jamadagni for facilitating the farm visit.
