I am an Educational Consultant and College Guidance Counselor. As Educational Consultant, I counsel and guide students and parents with regard to obtaining pertinent information about educational curricula within India and overseas, comparative evaluation of schools in India and overseas, making effective choices of educational curricula and long term implications of these choices. I have discussi
ons with parents and children about career plans, aptitudes and choices based on relevant emerging trends in education and job markets within India and overseas. As College Guidance Counselor, I assist students in their aspirations for university education, with a primary focus on undergraduate education. This assistance takes the form of planning right from grade 9 and 10, to getting ready with specific details in grade 11 and actual implementation of the application process in grade 12 to get ready for the early applications for undergraduate programs in India and overseas. I also guide students with their post graduate choices for Master’s degree programs and MBA aspirations. Until recently I held the position of College Guidance Counselor and Head of Theory of Knowledge (TOK) at Greenwood High International School, Bangalore. I have over 15 years’ experience with the International Baccalaureate Diploma program (IBDP), having occupied the positions of IB coordinator, Registrar and Head of Modern Languages department at The International School Bangalore (TISB) for 4 years, and as Deputy Dean (TOK) and Senior Teacher of Modern Languages at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), Singapore for over 7 years, before coming to Greenwood High in 2012. I have fulfilled multiple roles as administrator, coordinator, academician, examiner and counselor. I have been teaching French for 25 years and my association with the Spanish language goes back 8 years. My unique pride is vested in my students of language consistently achieving the highest IB grades of 6 and 7 year after year. Theory of Knowledge is my pet passion. My role as Assistant Examiner for TOK with the IBO over the last 8 years has helped me develop my analytical skills and keen judgment of perspective. My role as Senior Teacher (TOK) in Singapore for the over 7 years helped me develop skills of logistics and management of a huge cohort of students (450 per year) in addition to mentoring and training a large department of mostly novice teachers. I continue to play the role of assistant examiner with the IBO in the subject areas of French and Spanish final exam assessment. As College Guidance Counselor, I have witnessed the growth of the department in my different schools and guided students to successful placement in Ivy League universities of the USA (MIT, Princeton, Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, Brown University, etc.), niche schools as Harvey Mudd, Duke University, Georgia Tech, University of Texas-Austin and University of Georgetown, renowned Canadian universities (McGill, York, University of British Columbia), coveted universities in the UK (Cambridge University, University College of London, Kings College, Imperial College, University of Warwick, Edinburgh) and top Asian universities (National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University, University of New South Wales, Perth, Sydney). I am currently based in Bangalore and successfully assist students based anywhere in India and overseas with a combination of in-person meetings, skype interviews, phone calls and regular email communication and other kinds of online guidance.
