We are thrilled to announce an insightful workshop on ‘Curriculum Development’ led by Mr. Prakash Iyer. Mr. Iyer is an Associate Professor at . He teaches courses in Philosophy of Education, Curriculum Theory, and Moral & Political Education. His interest areas are in moral and political philosophy, with specific emphasis on translating abstract concepts and theories into frameworks for school curricula. Join us for a talk on ‘Disability and Inclusion: An Upcoming Career Pathway’ by Ms. Nivedita Krishna. The talk is being organised by the Centre for Disability, Justice, and Inclusion, School of Law. Ms. Krishna is the founder of Pacta, a Bengaluru based full-service boutique law firm focusing exclusively on the legal needs of the social sector. Ms. Krishna is a law and public policy consultant with 15 years of experience in the corporate and social sectors. In the last decade, she has focused on law and policy initiatives to strengthen India’s public education system. Nivedita has drafted federal legislation such as the Higher Education Commission of India Bill and Amendments to the National Council for Teacher Education Act.

She obtained her LL.B. degree from ILS, Pune and holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Princeton University.

Centre for Criminal Justice Studies, School of Law, is delighted to invite you for a public lecture on ‘Special Criminal Laws in Indian Legal System’ by Mr. Kunal Ambasta, Assistant Professor, National Law School of India University (NLSIU). Mr. Ambasta obtained his B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from NLSIU in 2012 and his LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2013. He is one of the directors of The Justice Initiative (TJI). TJI works with people in conflict with the law, particularly life convicts, enabling them to recreate their identities and rebuild their lives. His research interest lies in the criminal justice system, the law of evidence and proof, and the interface between law, sexuality, and gender identity.

In observance of Dalit History Month, the Centre for Gender Studies and Centre for Human Rights Studies, School of Law invite you to a screening of ‘Dr. B. R. Ambedkar: Now and Then’ by Jyoti Nisha. Filmmaker Jyoti Nisha takes a deep dive into the history of caste inequality in India from an Ambedkarite Bahujan feminist perspective. She reimagines discussions surrounding representation, social justice, and the dominant upper caste narratives that have traditionally marginalized the communities formerly known as Untouchables, both on and off the screen.

Jyoti Nisha studied journalism at IIMC, Delhi, screenwriting at FTII, Pune, and Media and Cultural Studies at TISS, Mumbai. She has written for many national and international publications and worked as a full-time Producing Faculty with a film school for a year and a half. ‘Dr. B.R. Ambedkar: Now and Then’ is her debut feature-length documentary film, which she has directed, co-produced, and crowdfunded.

The lecture is on “Victims Rights and Posttraumatic Change: Reflections from Canada’s Federal Ombudsperson for Victims of Crime” by Professor (Dr.) Benjamin Roebuck.

Prof. Roebuck is an internationally recognized expert in the field of victimology, the study of victimization in society. He is currently the Federal Ombudsperson for Victims of Crime, Government of Canada.

School of Law, RV University is delighted to invite you to a distinguished public lecture on ‘The Past, Present and Future of Indian Legal Education: Comparative Perspectives’ by Prof. Jayanth Krishnan, Indiana University Maurer School of Law and Director Milt and Judi Stewart Centre on Global Legal Profession and, Prof. C. Raj Kumar, Professor & Vice-Chancellor, O.P. Jindal Global University.

Prof. Krishnan is a socio-legal researcher who focuses on the legal profession, immigration, law and globalisation, access to justice, and legal education. Much of his work has examined how these areas intersect in the US and India, but he has also written on the ways these issues operate in places such as Anglophonic Africa, Brazil, and Middle East, and other parts of Asia. His work has appeared in both highly reputed law reviews and peer-reviewed journals and in academic press books.

Prof. Rajkumar is an accomplished legal scholar and works in the fields of human rights and development, comparative constitutional law, terrorism and national security, corruption and governance, law and disaster management, legal education and higher education. He has seven books and over hundred and fifty publications to his credit and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, and law reviews in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Singapore, UK and the USA.

Centre for Gender Studies, School of Law, is delighted to invite you to their inaugural lecture on ‘Women’s Bodies: Women, Work, and Health’ by Ms. Sweta Dash, Research Fellow, The George Institute for Global Health. Ms. Dash holds a B.Tech in Computer Science from C.V. Raman College of Engineering and an M.A. in Gender Studies from Ambedkar University.

She has been a part of the Accountability for Informal Urban Equity (ARISE) project that aims to address the intractable development challenges of ill-health, inequity, and insecurity in informal urban settlements in low-and middle-income countries in the context of complex and often dysfunctional governance arrangements. She is also a part of the Community Voices in Health Governance - Translating Community Participation into Practice in a World of Pluralistic Health System (COMPLUS) project that researches on what role community participation can play to help foster alignment of bureaucracies, communities, and health professionals around improving population health and well-being.
