Call for entries - International Train Design

Competition Run by CRRC in China, the largest rail manufacturer in the world, this inaugural competition calls on students, graduates and young professionals to design rail vehicles that will shape the future of green transportation.

Prizes include employment contracts at CRRC in China, internships at PriestmanGoode in London, as well as prize money. Deadline for entries is 30 September.

We are glade to announce this online design Design challenge on the occasion of Engineers day 2014.

Let's celebrate the International Engineers day 2014 in engineer's style.

Just Showcase your design creativity in Designing engineering for "THE SOLAR SOLUTION (ANY)" or "ADVANCED PERSONALIZED LEARNING" and win exiting prizes.

How to apply-

- Send an email on [email protected] with the details of your Name,Institute,Contact details, Course, Brief of your engineering idea (Min 300 words)as per the given subject along with a sketch.

- Deadline for idea submission-18-Sep 2014 by 11:55 (IST)

- We will display the best ideas on Lumium page on 19th for public vote.

- The best design will be declared on 22nd September 2014(Monday)

- Selection criteria would be the uniqueness of idea, engineering design, feasibility of idea and public vote.

Volvo Trucks 'Truck of the Future 2050' Design Competition

To celebrate the historic landmark of the 200,000th Volvo truck to be registered in the UK since the company began trading here in 1967, Volvo Trucks is holding a very special design competition to attract the truck designers and engineers of the future of road transport.

This exciting and challenging competition, which is open to people of all ages and from all walks of life, is called Volvo Trucks: Truck of the Future 2050. Entrants to the competition must focus on creative solutions and a thoughtful approach to incorporating specifications, safety features and systems to reduce environmental impact, that may be required thirty-six years from now. The winners will go on a once-in-a-lifetime visit to meet the Volvo Trucks Design Team in Gothenburg, where they will see their entries displayed in the Design Studio.

To submit your entry to Truck of the Future 2050 competition, please either post to Design Competition, Volvo Trucks, Wedgnock Lane, Warwick CV34 5YA or email: [email protected] with your entry form and design attachment.

There will be one winner per category

Closing date for entries is: Friday 3rd October 2014. In addition to design visuals, each entry must also include a brief explanation of the thinking behind its features. The designs must be for a long-haul or regional distribution truck, configured for the UK road transport industry. All entries must include sketches of the cab interior as well as the vehicle's exterior. The winners will be announced by Friday 10th October 2014 and there will be a UK based prize giving ceremony, the date of which is yet to be confirmed. It is planned that the winners will visit Gothenburg during December 2014.
