Announcing our last CA for CUPD 2023 🦅
None other than, Varshini Venkatesh!
Here’s a short description of her,
“Varshini has been involved in the WSDC circuit from India since 2008, that is, when she wore her hideous pigtails to school! She has debated for, coached, and judged for Team India, after which she served on the WSDC 2019 Motions team, the Online Worlds 2020 CAP, and most recently, the 2022 WSDC CAP. During this time, she served first as Head of Workshops for the Indian Schools Debating Society (a large, national debate education non-profit), and currently serves as its Executive Director, where her role is to spread debate across India and develop their schools' debate circuit.
In her free time, she's busy shopping for dark shades of lipstick to match her soul, finding the next tasting menu to devastate, and nagging her friends to learn to play a new card game she learnt 'that one time in...', the most recent of which is Wingspan. She was also recently, by an elite group of voters, voted “most likely to never quit debating.
V is also a supportive and strong coach who’s always ready to wipe the tears of her kids post rounds (some of which she perhaps maybe causes..) Most importantly, she is a debater and judge par excellence - the kind that can look at a motion, and 40 seconds later know the 8 arguments, the 3 weighing materials and pre-empt what the ideal whip speech would look like in the debate.
