Exploring the relationship between law, data, and public policy.

Students at the Bengaluru School of Law & Justice (SoLJ) recently participated in a session on Introduction to Public Policy: Judicial Data and the Justice Definitions Project, led by colleagues from DAKSH India—Smita Mutt, Shruti Namboodiri, Navaneeth Joshi, Sunidhi Hegde, and Bhumi Jain.

The discussion introduced students to the role of judicial data, empirical research, and evidence in informing public policy and strengthening the administration of justice. It also offered an opportunity to consider how legal questions can be examined through interdisciplinary and data-driven approaches.

Learning beyond the classroom.

Students of the Bengaluru School of Law & Justice (SoLJ) recently had the opportunity to spend time with Mithun Gerahalli, Additional Advocate General for Karnataka, at his chambers.

The informal conversation ranged across legal practice, public service, professional ethics, and the realities of life at the Bar, giving students an opportunity to engage candidly with one of the State’s leading law officers.

We are grateful to Mr. Gerahalli for his generosity with his time and for sharing his experience and perspective with our students.

We extend our warmest congratulations to our Global Advisory Board Member, Dr. Devashish Bharuka, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, on being awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by O.P. Jindal Global University for his thesis, "Time as Jurisprudence: Indian Courts, Delays and the Transformation of Justice."

Welcoming Dr. Jyotirmoy Banerjee as Assistant Academic Dean & Principal. A legal academician, advocate, and policy researcher, Dr. Banerjee brings expertise across Corporate Law, Cyber Law, Artificial Intelligence, Data Privacy, ESG, and Public Policy, along with academic leadership experience at IIM Rohtak and Amity Law School, Bengaluru.
