Kannada hip-hop has a different kind of energy when MC Bijju steps on the mic.

Known for his chopper flow, razor-sharp lyricism and unapologetic Kannada sound, Bijjala Nataraj aka MC Bijju has carved his own lane in the independent hip-hop scene.

The first person to notice your struggle isn’t a counsellor. It’s a friend.

That belief was at the heart of Phase 3 of the ICMR-NIMHANS Multistate Implementation Project on Student Mental Health & Well-being.

On 12th & 13th August 2026, around 35–40 student volunteers came together for the Youth Champion Training Programme, representing different classes, genders and backgrounds.

Over two days, students explored:
• Mental health & emotional well-being
• Recognising when a peer may be struggling
• Building effective peer-support skills
• Knowing when and how to connect a peer with trained faculty Gatekeepers
• Creating awareness and promoting mental well-being on campus.

With sessions led by Ms. Sangeeta on Day 1 and Mr. Adithya Shetty Gnana on Day 2, the programme focused on creating students who don’t just understand mental health but know how to notice, listen and support.

Because a great campus begins when we learn to look out for one another.
