The students of Bathinda College of Law actively participated in the National Lok Adalat held on 12th September 2026, with the noble objective of promoting access to justice and creating awareness among the general public regarding their legal rights and remedies.
The National Lok Adalat provided a meaningful platform for the students to understand the practical functioning of the justice delivery system and, at the same time, to render valuable assistance to people who were in need of legal guidance. The participation of the students reflected the commitment of Bathinda College of Law towards legal aid, social responsibility, community service, and access to justice for all.
During the Lok Adalat, the students interacted with various members of the public who approached the legal aid and settlement mechanisms for assistance in their respective matters. The students patiently listened to their problems, understood the nature of their grievances, and assisted them by providing appropriate legal information and preliminary guidance. They also helped needy persons understand the available legal remedies and the appropriate procedure to be followed for resolving their disputes.
The students played an important role in assisting persons who were unfamiliar with legal procedures and formalities. They helped them understand their rights and obligations in simple and understandable language and guided them regarding the appropriate forums and authorities where they could seek further assistance. Wherever required, the students also helped the persons in navigating the procedural requirements and obtaining appropriate guidance from the concerned legal aid authorities and professionals.
The participation proved to be an enriching practical learning experience for the law students. It enabled them to witness first-hand how the principles of conciliation, mediation, compromise, and amicable settlement are applied in the justice delivery system. The students gained valuable exposure to real-life legal issues and developed a deeper understanding of the difficulties faced by ordinary citizens in accessing justice.
