We at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, serving as the Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) for the New Age Innovation Network (NAIN) 2.0, officially kicked off the initiative on 28th September 2026 as part of the YES – Young Entrepreneurs Summit 2026 at the VTU campus, Jnana Sangama, Belagavi.

The programme commenced with the inauguration of startup stalls by Dr. S. Vidyashankar, Vice Chancellor, VTU and Chairman, VRIF; Dr. Prasad B. Rampure, Registrar, VTU and Director, VRIF; and Dr. Ujwal Urubail, Registrar (Evaluation), VTU and Director, VRIF. The inauguration was followed by interactions with the participating innovators and a review of their entrepreneurial initiatives.

The NAIN PMU Kickoff featured a briefing on the NAIN 2.0 strategy and operational guidelines by Mr. Pramod Patil, K.A.S., General Manager – Events & Promotions, KITS, Government of Karnataka, marking the commencement of the next phase of the initiative.

The kickoff marks another milestone in VTU’s continued efforts to nurture young innovators, promote technology-driven solutions, and support the development of entrepreneurial talent across Karnataka.

A New Chapter in Innovation and Entrepreneurship: VTU–VRIF Launches Technology Business Incubator (TBI) and Onboards Startups Under Navodaya Cohort-1

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), through its Visvesvaraya Research & Innovation Foundation (VRIF), launched its Technology Business Incubator (TBI) on the 2nd Floor of Silver Jubilee Bhavan, Jnana Sangama Campus, Belagavi, as part of the YES – Youth Entrepreneur Summit 2026.

The programme commenced with the context setting by Ms. Neha Revankar, who introduced the vision and significance of YES. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Prasad B. Rampure, Registrar, VTU and Director, VRIF. The event was formally inaugurated with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.

The programme featured the context setting and felicitation of Dr. S. Vidyashankar, Vice Chancellor, VTU and Chairman, VRIF; Mr. Venkatesh Patil, Member, State Evaluation and Advisory Committee; the Registrar and Registrar (Evaluation); and Executive Council Members Shri Dilip Krishna and Shri Sunny Raj. The dignitaries were felicitated by Shri Santosh Ittanagi, CEO, VRIF TBI.

A key highlight of the event was the onboarding of startups under Navodaya Cohort-1, marking a significant step towards nurturing innovation, supporting entrepreneurial talent, and strengthening the startup ecosystem at VTU.

Through the launch of its TBI and the onboarding of the first cohort under Navodaya, VRIF reinforces its commitment to fostering innovation, empowering aspiring entrepreneurs, and building a vibrant startup ecosystem.

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, held its 26th Annual Convocation (Part-I) on 26 September 2026 at the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Auditorium, “Jnana Sangama”, VTU-Belagavi, celebrating academic excellence, outstanding achievements, and the accomplishments of its graduating students.

The prestigious ceremony was presided over by Shri Dr. Thawarchand Gehlot, Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka and Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University.

The occasion was graced by Shri Basavaraj Rayareddi, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Government of Karnataka and Pro-Chancellor of VTU.

DR. G Parameshwara, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Revenue, Sports and Youth Empowerment, Government of Karnataka, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Address.

Proceedings of the Convocation

The ceremony commenced with the formal convocation procession, followed by the National Song Vande Mataram, the National Anthem, and the State Anthem, Naada Geethe.

The Hon’ble Chancellor formally declared the convocation open, followed by the welcome address and University report presented by Prof. Vidyashankar S., Vice Chancellor, VTU.

Conferment of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa)

A significant highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of the Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) – Honoris Causa upon three distinguished personalities in recognition of their achievements and contributions.

The honorary degrees were conferred upon:

We are honoured to welcome distinguished dignitaries to the 26th Annual Convocation (Part-I), to be held on Saturday, 26 September 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Auditorium, “Jnana Sangama”, VTU-Belagavi.
The ceremony will be presided over by Shri Dr. Thawarchand Gehlot, Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka and Chancellor of the University.

ONE MONTH. ONE CAMPUS. ONE TRANSFORMATION.
Discovery Course at VTU Campus with Belagavi and Gokak campus first year students.

They walked into the campus as first-year students. What waited for them was not just a course, but a month of discovery—machines, technology, challenges, experiments, and experiences designed to make them question what they thought engineering was.

They stepped into the Schneider Electric Centre of Excellence, exploring Solar and Industrial Automation. At I-Spark Labs, they entered the world of IoT. They experienced CNC machines, Robotic Welding, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, and transformed ideas into possibilities inside the AICTE IDEA Lab.
Then came reverse engineering. They didn't simply observe machines—they took them apart, studied every component, questioned every function, and discovered how everything worked together and learned that sometimes the fastest way to understand something… is to take it apart and build it again.
But engineering isn't only about machines. It is also about the mind. Through Python programming, communication skills, MS Word, professional email writing, debates, and quizzes, they learned to think clearly, communicate confidently, question boldly, and defend their ideas.
And somewhere between the first experiment and the final challenge, something changed. Curiosity became confidence. Questions became ideas. Ideas became action. Students became problem-solvers.
They didn't just discover technology.

THEY DISCOVERED WHAT THEY COULD BECOME.
ONE MONTH. COUNTLESS EXPERIENCES. ONE POWERFUL BEGINNING.

We at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, hosted a press meet today at the Mokshagundam Guest House, VTU-Belagavi, ahead of the 26th Annual Convocation (Part-I) scheduled to be held on 26 September 2026.

The press meet witnessed the participation of representatives from leading national, state and district-level news channels, newspapers and media organisations, who interacted with the University leadership and sought details regarding the upcoming convocation and its key highlights.
