VTU is taking another step towards equipping students with future-ready skills in emerging technologies.
In collaboration with NeoSky India Limited, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has initiated a training program for engineering students to obtain the DGCA India Remote Pilot Certificate (Drone License). Through this one-week training program, students will gain the necessary skills and knowledge required for drone operations, and upon successful completion, they will receive the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Remote Pilot License.
As part of the initiative, VTU’s Director (Research & Development – Aerospace and Defence), Dr. Commander Dr Commander Devendra Singh, PhD Flight Test Engineer/Scientist Singh, VTU’s Special Officer
Dr. Ajith Padyana, and Neosky CEO Sharath Chandra interacted with students and highlighted the growing significance of drone technology.
Sharath Chandra emphasized the increasing role of drones in modern applications, particularly in unmanned operations and commercial sectors, stating that structured training and certification are becoming essential for safe and effective drone usage.

Dr. Commander Devendra Singh highlighted the rapid adoption of drones across industries such as defence, logistics, and delivery services, creating strong demand for skilled drone operators in the future. He also noted that while professional drone licensing programs often cost around ₹1 lakh, VTU is making this opportunity available to students free of cost.
This initiative reflects VTU’s commitment to empowering students with industry-relevant skills and preparing them for opportunities in next-generation technologies.
