NIST University inaugurated the Ultratech Centre of Excellence in the Department of Civil Engineering, in collaboration with UltraTech Cement, marking a significant milestone in strengthening industry-academia collaboration in technical education, research, and innovation. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industrial practices while preparing future civil engineers to meet the evolving demands of the construction sector. The programme was graced by DrSukant K. Mohapatra, Hon’ble President of NIST University, and Prof. (Dr.) Prakash Kumar Hota, Vice Chancellor of NIST University, along with Er. Pradip Kumar Jha, Eastern Zonal Head, UltraTech Cement Ltd.; Shri Arun Rath, Member of the Board of Advisors, NIST University; and other representatives of UltraTech Cement. The dignitaries emphasised the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and industry in promoting experiential learning, technological advancement, and skill development. They highlighted the need to equip students with practical knowledge, professional competencies, and innovative thinking to address emerging challenges in civil engineering and infrastructure development.
A major highlight of the programme was the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding ( ) between NIST University and UltraTech Cement, formalising the partnership to facilitate industry-oriented training, technical knowledge sharing, collaborative research, and professional development. The UltraTech Centre of Excellence will serve as a platform for practical learning, expert lectures, technical workshops, hands-on training, and collaborative research in concrete technology, sustainable construction materials, high-performance concrete, and innovative building practices. This collaboration reflects NIST University’s continued commitment to providing industry-relevant education and developing competent civil engineering professionals capable of contributing to the future of the construction and infrastructure sectors.
