Government College of Education at Komarapalayam is a NAAC Accredited institution with 'B' Grade. The college was started during the year 1955-56 and housed in the Government High School, Komarapalayam. The college started functioning in the present building situated on a ground area about 19.5 acres from 05.03.1972 onwards. The college is fully institutionalised by Government and is a Co-Educatio

n institution imparting training on Education and mentoring students to be the teachers for the future India. In 1986-87 a permanent Hostel building for men and in the year 1993-94 a hostel for women students were opened. The college was affiliated to the Periyar University, Salem from 1998 to 2008. From 2008-2009 the college is affiliated to Tamilnadu Teacher's Education University, Chennai.
