National Recognition | Celebrating Inclusion 🎬

KIIT School of Film & Media Sciences, KIIT School of Mass Communication, and KIIT School of Fashion Technology are proud to celebrate Ms. Shiwani Sucharita Sahu of KIIT School of Fashion Technology for her valuable contribution to the short film Resurrection.

By providing Indian Sign Language (ISL) subtitles, she helped make the film more inclusive and accessible, underscoring the importance of accessibility in cinema.

Resurrection, associated with KSRM, was selected as a finalist at Samarthya-2026, a National Level Short Film Festival organised by the SSEPD Department of the Government of Odisha. Inspired by Mr. Trinath Bhoi, a lift operator with an 80% locomotor disability, the film celebrates his resilience. Mr. Trinath Bhoi received the National Level Best Actor Award, shared with KSRM student Saikat Paul, along with a cash prize of ₹20,000.

Congratulations to Ms. Shiwani Sucharita Sahu for helping create a more inclusive cinematic experience.

Workshop Report: “Research in Practice: Communicating Research for Public Impact” | KSMC x DPIC

The workshop on “Research in Practice: Communicating Research for Public Impact,” organised by KIIT School of Mass Communication (KSMC) in collaboration with the Data, Policy and Innovation Centre (DPIC) on 10th October 2026, was a great success.

Led by Ms. Milinda Mishra and facilitated by Ms. Megha Das, Alumni, MCJ Batch of 2025, currently associated with DPIC, the session was highly interactive and insightful.

The workshop offered valuable perspectives on practical research approaches, their real-world applications, and the importance of communicating research effectively to create meaningful public impact. The activities conducted during the session were particularly engaging and helpful, allowing participants to apply their learning in a practical setting.

Overall, it was an enriching learning experience that encouraged participants to think critically about making research more accessible, relevant, and impactful for the public.

KSMC is proud of its alumni connection and its collaboration with DPIC for creating such impactful learning platforms.

A Proud Moment for KSMC!

We are proud to share that Dr. Rajeev Kumar Panda, Dean, School of Mass Communication, School of Fashion Technology and School of Film & Media Studies, was featured in a Special Interview on Doordarshan Odia’s flagship programme “PALLISHREE”.

The interview was anchored by Mr. Durgesh Nandan Mohapatra, Senior Journalist and Ph.D. Scholar, KIIT School of Mass Communication (KSMC).

It was a truly special KSMC moment - our Dean in conversation with our own Ph.D. Scholar on a national platform like Doordarshan.

In the interview, Dr. Panda shared his perspectives on rural entrepreneurship, creative education, mass communication, fashion technology, and how KSMC is shaping future communicators, designers and filmmakers.

KIIT School of Mass Communication, in collaboration with the Data, Policy and Innovation Centre (DPIC), is organising a workshop on “Research in Practice: Communicating Research for Public Impact.”

The session will be led by Ms. Milinda Mishra, Research Associate at DPIC, who brings over four years of experience across government, research and policy, including work with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the British Red Cross. She holds an MSc in International Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a Master of Public Health from Brunel University London.

The workshop will explore practical approaches to research, its application in real-world contexts, and how research can be communicated to create meaningful public impact.
