We were proud to collaborate with the Urban Police & Traffic Training Institute, Bhubaneswar, to conduct Mission SAFECARE, a specialised training programme for the security personnel of Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar.

Through interactive sessions on safety awareness, communication, crisis response, emergency protocols, service excellence, and public service standards, we worked towards strengthening the preparedness and confidence of frontline security staff who play a vital role in ensuring a safe and responsive healthcare environment.

Checkmate to a grand celebration of chess at KIIT!

The 17th KIIT International Chess Festival 2026 concluded at the Viswanathan Anand International Chess Hall, bringing together more than 4,000 players and officials from over 40 countries.

With 25 Grandmasters, 50 International Masters, several international title-holders and around 2,000 parents on campus, KIIT became a true global meeting place for the chess community.

The festival, carrying a record prize pool of ₹1.31 crore, witnessed brilliant performances, intense matches and inspiring moments of sportsmanship.

Congratulations to GM Boris Savchenko, winner of Category A, along with GM Aleksej Aleksandrov, IM Aronyak Ghosh, IM Mayank Chakraborty, GM Nguyen Duc Hoa and all the prize winners.

We’re delighted to announce that our innovative “Intelligent Sensor Device for Automated Wildlife Monitoring” has been granted a Design Patent. This marks another significant milestone in our research-driven environmental innovation.

Developed at the KIIT Lab, this intelligent sensor-based technology enhances non-invasive wildlife monitoring and biodiversity conservation through smarter, less intrusive, and more effective field observation systems.

Led by Sri Vishwanath Neelannavar, IFS, RCCF Berhampur & GM, Berhampur OFDC Ltd., and executed by Prof. Manoj Ukamanal, Assistant Registrar (EAM), KIIT, the project received support from Dr Ipsita Das and Dr Tulishree Pradhan from KIIT School of Law for patenting and academic coordination.

Conceptualised at the Forest Innovation Cell under the Office of the RCCF in Berhampur, this initiative showcases the power of collaboration between academic research and field-level conservation efforts.

This recognition reinforces our commitment to interdisciplinary research and sustainable technological solutions for real-world ecological challenges.

The 17th KIIT International Chess Festival 2026 is establishing a new benchmark in Indian university sports with an unprecedented prize pool of ₹1.31 crore, the highest ever offered by any university in India.

Hosted at our vibrant KIIT campus, the festival has assembled an exceptional gathering of talent, strategic prowess, and sporting spirit from across the globe.

Tournament Highlights:

* Over 4,000 players and officials
* Representation from 40+ countries
* 25 Grandmasters
* 50 International Masters
* 85+ international title holders
* 2,000 proud family members in attendance

Congratulations to AGM Shankhadeep Maity on emerging as the B Category Champion and securing a prize of ₹4,50,000. Odisha’s young talents have also made the state proud with victories in multiple categories.

Following four gruelling rounds in the A Category, GM Gorshtein Ido of ISR, with a rating of 2553, leads the standings.

The festivities continue as the C Category commences and the E Category Blitz begins on May 28. Organised by KIIT in collaboration with FIDE, All India Chess Federation, and Odisha Chess Association.
