As of May 2026, there is a strong demand for BMS (Building Management System) professionals across the GCC, particularly in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar.
Below are details on five typical types of vacancies currently available in the region, along with the specific roles and requirements.
1. BMS Operator (Facilities Management)
Locations: Riyadh, Doha, Abu Dhabi.
Role: This is a 24/7 monitoring role. You will sit in the control room, monitoring live data from HVAC, lighting, and power systems. You are the first line of defense; when an alarm triggers, you diagnose if it’s a software glitch or a mechanical failure and dispatch technicians.
Key Requirement: Experience with systems like Honeywell, Schneider, or Siemens.
2. BMS Testing & Commissioning Engineer
Locations: Jeddah, Dubai, Riyadh.
Role: This role is project-based. You are responsible for the final setup of the system before a building is handed over to the owner. This includes "point-to-point" testing (ensuring every sensor is talking to the software) and calibrating DDC panels.
Key Requirement: Proficiency in communication protocols like BACnet and Modbus.
3. BMS Maintenance Technician (Field Role)
Locations: Makkah, Madinah, Sharjah.
Role: Unlike the Operator, the Technician is in the field. You will perform PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) on sensors, actuators, and valves. You’ll be climbing to AHUs (Air Handling Units) and Chiller plants to ensure the physical hardware is responding correctly to the BMS commands.
Key Requirement: Strong electrical background and ability to read wiring diagrams.
4. ELV/BMS Design & Estimation Engineer
Locations: Dubai, Riyadh.
Role: An office-based engineering role. You review project drawings and calculate the number of controllers, sensors, and cables needed to bid for new contracts. You create the "BMS Architecture" for a new building.
Key Requirement: Expertise in AutoCAD and building automation software.
5. BMS Specialist (Smart Cities/Data Centers)
Locations: NEOM, Riyadh (Data Centers), Doha (Oil & Gas).
Role: A high-level role focused on integrating the BMS with other "Smart" platforms (like IoT or Security systems). In data centers, this role is critical for managing "PUE" (Power Usage Effectiveness) and preventing server overheating.
Key Requirement: 5–10 years of experience and specialized certifications.
