A programme on “Promoting Electoral Literacy Among First-Time Voters” was organized on 19th March 2026 at Bijni College by the SVEEP Cell, DEO, Chirang, in collaboration with the SVEEP Cell and Department of Political Science, Bijni College.

The programme was attended by Abdul Motlib, ACS and Priyam Bora, ACS, Chirang. Principal Dr. Birhashgiri Basumatary, Vice Principal Sabita Ray, and IQAC Coordinator Dr. Babul Basumatary were present along with faculty members Bibekananda Roy and Abhijit Ray.

The event included an awareness campaign, essay writing competition, and tree plantation. The programme was informative and aimed at encouraging first-time voters to participate actively in the electoral process.

The Department of Political Science, Bijni College, in collaboration with the District Legal Service Authority, Chirang (Kajalgaon), organised a Popular Talk on “National Constitution Day of India 2025 – History, Significance & Timeline” on 26 November 2025 at the Conference Hall, Bijni College.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. B. G. Basumatary, Principal, Bijni College.
Sri Bhupati Ranjan Goswami, Learned Advocate, Sub-Divisional Judicial Court, Bijni, attended as the Resource Person and delivered an insightful talk on the Indian Constitution.

Mrs. Sabita Ray (Vice Principal) and Sri Bibekananda Roy (HoD, Political Science) graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.

Ms. Shabana Ahmed from District Legal Service Authority, Chirang, delivered a valuable and informative speech on Legal Service Aids, focusing on the importance of legal awareness and access to justice.

Students actively participated in the interaction session. The programme ended with felicitation and the National Anthem.

The Department of Political Science, Bijni College, successfully organized a one-day departmental seminar on the theme "Indo-Pak Relation: Understanding Conflict and Co-operation" on 16th May 2025 at the Seminar Hall, Bijni College.

The event commenced with an inaugural session with an insighful talk from the Principal Dr. Birhash Giri Basumatary, Principal, Bijni College followed by the keynote address delivered by Mr. Bibekananda Roy. Dr. Arup Sarkar, the resource person, added an interdisciplinary perspective by highlighting the role of narratives, media, and cultural perceptions in shaping bilateral relations. A thoughtful speech was also given by the Vice Principal Sabita Ray and IAQC coordinator Dr. Babul Basumatary.

The seminar witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, fostering a vibrant intellectual environment. A question-answer session followed the presentations, encouraging critical engagement and dialogue on the prospects of conflict resolution and regional cooperation.

The Department of Political Science, Bijni College, organized a Soft Skill Programme on Seminar Writing and Presentation to enhance students' academic communication skills. The event began with a welcome speech by Mr. Bibekananda Roy, Head of the Department of Political Science. The programme was graced by Dr. Babul Basumatary, IQAC Coordinator, and Mr. Abhijit Ray, Faculty Member, who attended and encouraged the participants.
