Astronomy and Space Physics Society “Astronomy compels the soul to look upward, and leads us from this world to another”. The Astron

The Astronomy & Space Physics Society is an attempt by students and peers of Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh to study the natural forces of motion in outer space and the interactions between the earth and heavenly objects using the sciences of Astronomy and Astrophysics, while earnestly employing methods of Astronautics into this vast field. Students have performed experiments in the past i

n these fields from various disciplines and through a variety of ways. ASPS organizes the thought process of such young talents, and attempts to give them a research platform, for their voices to be heard and their curious questions to be answered. Proposed as of 2015, this society has recruited the best and the brightest of the most dedicated students from a selected pool of applicants to work in the field of optics, fluid mechanics, design, electronics and observations of space related instrumentation and objects. Topics may vary from spacecraft black box to black holes, from electric propulsion to solar plasma, we discuss and innovate them all. The society has the latest software to track and map the constellations at a given point, and has a state of the art telescope (Celestron CGE PRO 925) capable of focusing on planets as far as Saturn. The society intends to give basic knowledge of both technical and non-technical issues about Astro-Space and intends to create a more enhanced understanding of space amongst undergraduates for further avenue of engineering research in the college.
