University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized an enriching session on “Stress Management and Mental Well-Being” under the guidance of Prof. Gunmala Suri. The session was conducted with the objective of creating awareness about stress, its underlying causes, and effective ways to manage it in academic and professional life.
The session was led by Dr. Jitender Pal Singh, who provided a comprehensive understanding of stress and explained how it arises when individuals feel unable to cope with the demands of various situations. He highlighted common stressors among students such as academic workload, internships, placements, career-related uncertainty, and everyday challenges that often go unnoticed but gradually lead to mental exhaustion.
Dr. Singh also discussed the growing influence of social media and peer pressure, emphasizing how factors like Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), constant comparison, and societal expectations contribute significantly to stress among students.
The speaker shared practical strategies for managing stress, including acknowledging and accepting stress, reflecting on emotional triggers, managing reactions thoughtfully, maintaining a positive mindset, and practicing gratitude. The importance of emotional balance and self-awareness was strongly emphasized throughout the session.
