“The biggest upgrade in life isn’t the degree you earn… it’s the person you become while earning it.”

Almost a year ago, I walked into Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai with clear goals, some uncertainty, and excitement. The first week was overwhelming, I even thought about quitting. But 335 days later, I realize how deeply this journey has shaped me.

What changed everything was the people. I was showered with immense love from peers across cultures, and through friendships and shared experiences, I found a more confident version of myself. Somewhere along the way, I even became the “fastest” Bengali and Hindi learner on campus, just 15% fluent, but 100% confident 😄.

This year sharpened my business thinking and gave me a more structured way of approaching problems. The same journey that once made me doubt myself now gives me 10× more confidence.

Proud moments along the way:
• Karma Yoga – Best Committee Leader Award
• Sports: Tug of War Champions & Volleyball Runner-up (Captain)
• Dance: Winner at Sangamithra & participant at Lattitude

Beyond academics, I learned to live independently, adapt quickly, and build meaningful connections. The real MBA happened outside the classroom.

With a placement and my family’s pride, this journey feels complete.

One year here didn’t just give me a PGPM, it gave me the confidence to face life.

Grateful for the memories, the love, and the growth. On to the next chapter 🚀

From curiosity to clarity in just one day.

Incoming PGPM students got a first taste of life at Great Lakes Chennai, speaking with the Program Director - Prof. Raj Krishnan Shankar, and learning Marketing from Prof. Bharadhwaj, and exploring what the journey really looks like.

But the real highlight was hearing it straight from current students who’ve lived it. Because nothing prepares you better than real stories from real people.

Global isn’t something you study. It’s something you step into.

New classroom. New culture. New way of seeing the same problem. That’s what immersive learning at IÉSEG does — it doesn’t just broaden perspectives, it sharpens them.

Because global context isn’t a credential. It’s a skill.

Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Chennai.

6 cities. One shared beginning.

Across cities, the PGPM Class of 2027 connected with alumni, current students and future peers to get a real sense of what lies ahead. From campus life and curriculum to career paths and everyday realities, these conversations went beyond the usual.

A few minutes of stories, a lot of honest advice, and then meaningful connections that make the journey feel more tangible.

Because starting well isn’t about knowing everything. It’s about understanding what it takes and who you can learn it from.

Here’s to stepping in prepared and ready to build what’s next.

Ideas were challenged. Assumptions were questioned. Growth was on the table.

At GLIM Sharks, FBE students stepped in as decision-makers, not just learners, tackling real business challenges like scaling legacy operations and driving change within family-run setups.

What stood out was clarity. Knowing where they want to go, what needs to shift, and what they’re willing to do differently.

With mentors pushing them at every step, this was a live test of strategy, conviction, and leadership.

"Jack of all trades, master of none."
People usually leave out the second half of that quote: "but oftentimes better than a master of one."

Honestly, that’s just a poetic way of saying I have different expensive hobbies, zero free time, and an ongoing personality crisis.
Depending on the hour, I’m a Finance Bro aggressively explaining finance terms nobody asked about, or an exhausted MBA student who somehow survived seven terms running on pure caffeine and "It Depends."

But when I wasn't busy staring at spreadsheets, I spent college playing football.
As for the bike? I used to ride everywhere before MBA swallowed my free time whole. But now that college is officially a wrap, I’m dusting off the helmet and getting back on the open road mostly to see if I can physically outrun my impending education loan EMIs.

And let's not forget the singer alter-ego belting out Hindi rock Fusions into a mic and genuinely believing the band is one jam session away from headlining a stadium.
It's a lot. But the only thing holding this chaotic rotation of personalities together is my friends. They’re the real MVPs for enduring my unsolicited Finance Gyan, hyping up my gigs, and somehow choosing to stick around for whichever version of me decides to wake up that day.

That’s a wrap on college. Time to enter the adult world and aggressively pretend I actually have a plan. Adios.

From curiosity to clarity, all in one day.

The incoming PGPM students spent a day at Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai, exploring the campus, learning from Prof. Raj Krishnan Shankar, and diving into marketing with Prof. Bharadhwaj.

But the real takeaway? Honest conversations with current students who’ve already been through the grind.

Because sometimes, the best way to understand what lies ahead is to hear it from the ones living it.

Ideas challenged. Assumptions questioned. Growth put on the table.

At GLIM Sharks, FBE students stepped in as decision-makers, not just learners. From scaling legacy distribution businesses without breaking relationships, to modernising family-run manufacturing while handling internal resistance, every pitch got real.

What stood out was clarity. Knowing what needs to change, where they’re headed, and what they’re willing to do differently.

With mentors pushing them to think sharper and defend every call, the room turned into a live test of ideas, conviction, and leadership.

This is experiential learning, done right.

Royal Rayas, PGPM Class of 2026.

You came in with intent and left with impact. Sharp, composed, and always a step ahead, you set your own pace and made it count.

Beyond the deadlines and debates, you built a bond that didn’t need noise to be felt. As you step forward, carry that same clarity and quiet confidence.

This place will always be yours.
