đŸ’« *”The Lack of Shadow is Beautiful as well”*đŸ’«says a team of *budding Engineers and Scientists* from *E&T I Year* in an *Astronomical event* “ *Zero Shadow Day* *2025”* observed on 24-4-25 between *12:07pm and 12: 21pm* to impinge on the intricacies of the movement of the Earth around the Sun.

The *fervour on astronomy* engulfed the young minds as they upheld the *tangible demonstrations* of the Earth’s tilt and its effect on the *Sun’ apparent path across the sky* .

The team showcased *zero shadow of the various objects* placed in a *vertical position* .

A *Science activity* of *measuring the length* of the *shadow of the vertical pole* during 12:07pm and 12:21pm at regular intervals, involving the latitude and longitude destined its way to calculate the *circumference and the radius of Earth* using *Eratothenes method* .

The *day archived* its credit with the *joy of learning astronomical parameters* teamed with *real-time practices* for the students as well.

We thank the *ARI – Dr.MGR ERI* for their prompt in demonstrating the *drone view* of the event.

The First Year Engineering and Technology organized an orientation session on “Career Opportunities in the Government Sector” on 28th April 2025. The resource person for the session was Mr. Venuvenkat Raman (M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D (Mathematics) M.A. in Economics; M.A. in Political Science), Founder of BUDDHA IAS ACADEMY. He shared valuable insights into various government career paths, preparation strategies for competitive exams such as UPSC, SSC, and State Services and the benefits of public sector employment. He also addressed common myths, shared personal tips and motivation to encourage students to explore these opportunities early in their academic journey. Slot A and Slot B students participated in the program. The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. N.S. Shubhashree, Joint Registrar, First Year E&T. Students gained a clear understanding of career options in the government sector and actively engaged with questions during the interactive session.

First year Engineering and Technology has organised a guest lecture in “Orientation to Profile Building ‘’ on 3.4.2025 at 2pm.

Mr. Ajay Zener, Founder & Director of Grand Square, an experienced mentor and Mr. Kushal Bohra, a seasoned educator and expert in CAT, GRE, and GMAT were the chief guests of the program. The program was started with a welcome note and introduction. The chief guests have shared sharing their valuable insights on profile building and career enrichment. They also created valuable knowledge on personal branding, resume building, LinkedIn optimization, and essential skills required in today’s competitive job market. Many students had a wonderful exchange with the chief guests. Overall the session transpired with vivacity and depth, leaving an indelible impression on all attendees. The First Year Engineering and Technology organized an engaging competition on World book Day titled “Cover to Cover Redesign Challenge” on 23rd April 2025. Held at the Voc 411 Hall from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from first-year engineering students, who displayed commendable artistic and literary skills.

The primary objective of this event was to celebrate the significance of books in education and personal development while encouraging students to think innovatively. The challenge tasked students with redesigning the cover of a book, offering them an opportunity to express how they perceive its essence through art and creativity. The selected theme, “Read your way - 2025,” inspired students to imagine the future of reading and book culture in a digital yet artistic world.The presence of Dr. N.S. Shubhashree, Joint Registrar of First Year E&T, added a special touch to the event. She appreciated the efforts of the students and highlighted the importance of reading beyond academics. “The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to explore the literature. This created an awareness to convey the importance of reading books. First year (E&T) expresses their incredible thankfulness to the Honorable President for encouraging students in all endeavours.

sincerely thank our Hon. President for honoring our students, *Arcot Nandha Kumar* and *Yogasree*, with the titles of *Best Male Performer and Best Female Performer* in recognition of their exceptional performances at Rain 25—the cultural fest hosted by our University.

Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to the Registrar, University executives, and all the dedicated Rain 25 coordinators for their unwavering support. The fest served as a vibrant stage for our students to express their creativity and talent, even amidst their academic pursuits.

-TVLC arranged a STUDENT VISIT- VANDE BHARAT EXPRESS on 19.02.2025 for the IEI members. They visited Chennai Central’s Vande Bharat Maintenance Depot (BBQ). Mr.Venkatesan, Senior Section Engineer, CNW, addressed the students and spoke about design,& working technology of VANDE BHARAT EXPRESS. Mr.Aswath Jerome, Senior Section Engineer, CNW explained about enhanced safety, reliability in operation, enhanced performance, maintenance schedule and 4-Tier inspection system. Mr.Saravana Kumar, SSE (DSL. Electrical) explained about the working of the engine, electrical units and controlling unit. Ten I year E&T students participated in this event.
