Avalon University School of Medicine (AUSOM) was founded in 2003 and is chartered by the government of Curacao.

AUSOM has an academic team and curriculum which focuses on success of its student body.

🏆🏆 A new semester is upon us here at Avalon University. This means that current Avalon students will be joined by new classmates from all over the world!

Avalon’s admissions team put on a virtual “meet and greet” for new students. Students in attendance were able to learn more about what to expect upon arrival in Curacao, be provided with further insight into financial procedures, and were even able to speak with an Avalon student currently completing clinical rotations at our partnered site in Beckley, WV.

Two attendees also received complementary Avalon University t-shirts! 🏆 🏆 🏆

I hope that everyone is doing well during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. I wanted to share an update with you regarding Avalon and the progression we have made over the past few months. We have learned a lot in delivering our education in the "online-live lecture" format, and the feedback from the students and faculty members has been excellent.

Because of this and to share some exciting news, we have decided that beginning in September 2020, and onwards, our premedical program will be completed in its entirety via the "online-live lecture" format. Students will be able to stay home and complete their premedical coursework, or if they would like, they can still travel to Curaçao and complete the "online-live lecture" classes at our campus. Upon successful completion of our premedical program, students will gain automatic admission into our MD program, which is completed on our campus.

Avalon University School of Medicine is actively planning in-person classes for September 2020 semester. As you know, there are many hurdles involved, some in our control and some not. We are focusing intensive efforts on making it possible to bring our students back to the beautiful island of Curaçao while also preparing to offer classes remotely.

At this time, we are planning to start classes on August 31st, regardless of whether they begin in person or remotely. We will make a more definitive announcement about our plans as soon as possible.
