Vinayaka Mission’s Law School (VMLS) successfully celebrated the second day of VMLS Fest 2026, continuing the vibrant spirit of LEXORA 2026 with an evening filled with music, creativity, entertainment, and enthusiastic student participation.

The event featured energetic cultural performances, engaging stage events, student-organised stalls, and vibrant celebrations that brought together the entire VMLS community. Musical performances by the bands “EQ” and “Eclipse” created an electrifying atmosphere and became major highlights of the evening.

The celebrations also featured the presence of Mr. Adams as the Chief Guest for VMLS Fest 2026. A renowned media personality, filmmaker, and entrepreneur, he is widely recognised for his journey from television hosting to filmmaking and business leadership. His interaction with the students added inspiration and excitement to the event.

The cultural segment showcased the immense talent and creativity of VMLS students through solo and group performances, while the DJ session brought the celebrations to a lively and memorable conclusion.

The successful conduct of the event reflects VMLS’s continued commitment towards fostering student creativity, cultural engagement, and vibrant campus life.

Vinayaka Mission's Law School is proud to announce that our esteemed faculty members, Dr Najeed Naved Siddiqui and Dr Shabin OS, both Assistant Professors of Law, have been published by The Oxford Human Rights Hub(OHRH), Faculty of Law, University of Oxford.

Their article, The 'Saha' Guidelines India's Mental Health Leap as a Constitutional Right, provides a comprehensive scholarly analysis of the Supreme Court's landmark Saha Guidelines, which recognise mental health as a constitutional right in India.

This publication represents a significant contribution to legal scholarship and underscores VMLS's commitment to academic excellence and to critical engagement with contemporary issues in human rights and constitutional law.

A celebration of talent, creativity, teamwork, and unforgettable memories! From debates, performances, and creative arts to exciting competitions and prize distributions, LEXORA 2026 brought the entire VMLS community together in the true spirit of campus life 💫

We were honoured to have Dr. D. Sathyakumar, distinguished leader in Physical Education & Sports Sciences, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Akshay Rajan Sounderrajan, Director, Roy Leather Exports, Chennai, as the Guest of Honour 🌟

The fest featured Open Mic, Live Canvas Painting, Photography, Reel-Making, Short Film, Performing Arts, Treasure Hunt, Rangoli, Mehendi, Poster Making, E-Sports, and the electrifying final round of the Debate Competition.

A proud moment of the celebration was the Student Recognition Awards 🏆, honouring students whose dedication and contributions created a lasting impact within the institution. Faculty fun events and prize distributions added even more joy and energy to the occasion 🌟

Vinayaka Mission’s Law School (VMLS), through the Centre for Maritime Law (CML), is organising a Guest Lecture Session on the occasion of the International Day for Women in Maritime on 18 May 2026.

The session will feature Ms. Rehana Dhawade, Maritime Legal Consultant at the Directorate General of Shipping, India, who will deliver a lecture on the topic “Policy and Technical Issues Concerning Women Seafarers.”

Ms. Rehana Dhawade is a maritime legal professional specialising in international maritime law, ocean governance, environmental law, and maritime dispute resolution. With extensive experience in maritime litigation, arbitration, shipping regulation, and sustainable ocean governance, she brings both academic excellence and practical policy expertise to the session.

The lecture aims to provide students with valuable insights into the challenges, opportunities, and evolving policy landscape concerning women in the maritime sector while encouraging meaningful discussions on inclusivity, governance, and maritime law.

Vinayaka Mission's Law School (VMLS) successfully conducted the first edition of its Intra Mediation Competition in the first week of May 2026 under the aegis of the annual law fest, marking yet another step in strengthening practical and inclusive ADR training at VMLS.

The competition drew more than 40 enthusiastic students from different batches and was uniquely structured as a blind mediation format. This format encouraged spontaneity, active listening, adaptability, and nuanced problem-solving. Staying true to the ultimate vision and mission of VMLS, the competition was conducted in a bilingual format.

What set the competition apart was its focus on deeply contextual and locally grounded hypothetical disputes, bringing authenticity and practical relevance to the mediation process while reflecting the lived realities of the communities around us.

The rounds covered:
• Family Disputes (Preliminary Rounds)
• Property Disputes (Semi-Final Rounds)
• Investment Disputes (Final Round)

The event was entirely organised and conducted by the ADR Club of VMLS, a student-driven body founded and spearheaded by final year students Mr Remish Immanuel, Ms. BERDHIN SHALIYA S.F.M, Mr Arunkumar, and Ms Thenmozhi Gajendiran, under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Srinivas Raman. The successful ex*****on of the competition stands as a testament to the initiative, leadership, and organisational abilities of VMLS students.

The ADR Club of VMLS extends its sincere gratitude to all student volunteers, faculty judges, and participants who contributed to the success of the event. Special thanks also to Advocate Avinesh V. for graciously joining the Final Rounds as a judge and sharing his valuable insights with the participants.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to the faculty members who served as judges throughout the competition: Profs. Muthuvelu MUNIAPPAN, WINFRED CHELLIAH M, Stalin Harikaran Nepolean, sowmiya narayan rajagopalan, Dr. Fowmina. The article critically examines the taxation challenges arising from digital companies generating substantial revenue from India without proportionate tax liability, reflecting strong analytical ability and a keen research interest in contemporary tax law and digital economy issues.

Such accomplishments reflect the growing culture of research, academic writing, and legal scholarship at VMLS, while inspiring students to actively contribute to contemporary legal discourse.
