As part of the curriculum, students of ANM 1st Year, AVDGDA 2nd Year, and DMLT 1st Year from Jeevan School of Nursing visited the Puzhal Water Treatment Plant on 06.03.2026, accompanied by faculty Mrs. Kalaivani and Mrs. Manjusha.

The team started at 9:30 AM and reached the plant at 10:30 AM. Mr. Suresh, Senior Engineer, explained the sources of water (Puzhal Lake, Krishna River, and Chembarambakkam Lake) and demonstrated the biological and chemical treatment processes, including filtration using sand and pebbles, and chemical treatment with chlorine, alum, and lime. Students also observed the flocculator system, inlet and outlet chambers, and purification processes.

Around 3000 million liters of water are treated daily and distributed across Central, North, and South Chennai after quality testing. The visit provided students with valuable knowledge about water purification and distribution. The team returned to the college at 2:00 PM.

As part of the curriculum, 18 ANM 1st year and 2 DMLT 1st year students from Jeevan School of Nursing visited the CSSD department at Dr. Mehta's Hospitals on 04.03.2026 from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, accompanied by faculty Mrs. Kalaivani, Mrs. Manjusha, and Miss Sindhu.

Mrs. Agila, OT Manager, explained the CSSD process including clean, semi-sterile and sterile zones, cleaning of instruments, autoclaving, ETO sterilization, packing, labeling indicators and distribution of sterile trays. Students observed the procedures directly and gained practical knowledge about sterilization and CSSD responsibilities.

"The purpose of travelling is to connect imagination with reality."

As part of the academic curriculum, the students of ANM 1st Year, AVDGDA 2nd Year, and DMLT 1st Year from Jeevan School of Nursing visited the Aavin Milk Factory on 27-02-2026 for an educational field visit.

A total of 31 students accompanied by faculty Mrs. Kalaivani and Mrs. Manjusha started from the college at 10:30 AM and reached the factory by 11:00 AM. After the orientation session, students learned about the milk collection, transportation, quality testing, pasteurization, chilling, packaging, and distribution processes. They observed each step of milk processing directly from the experts at the unit.

The visit provided students with a valuable practical learning experience about the dairy production system. At the end of the visit, students were offered ice cream by Aavin and also had the opportunity to purchase products from the Aavin parlor.

On 10.02.2026, Jeevan School of Nursing (A Unit of Udavum Karangal) observed International Epilepsy Day by conducting an awareness session on epilepsy for students of ANM 1st Year, AVDGDA 1st & 2nd Year, and DMLT 1st & 2nd Year.

The session was delivered by Mrs. Kalaivani M., B.Sc Nursing, MSW (Community Development), ANM Coordinator, who explained the risk factors, causes, diagnostic methods, and medical, surgical, nutritional, and nursing management of epilepsy using PPT and video presentations.

Students also demonstrated first aid and recovery position for epilepsy under guidance. The session helped students understand the myths and facts about epilepsy and improved their knowledge of emergency care.we thank our Mrs.Kavitha, Principal for organising.
