rman, the esteemed Dr. Jeppiaar, Jeppiaar Engineering College was inaugurated on 15th August 2001 as one of the spearheading institutions of Jeppiaar Educational Trust. Marie Wilson and Mrs. Regeena Wilson have led the college from its fledgling state to an institution to reckon with. The vision of our directors and their dedication to the cause of technical education combined with their dynamic approach to leadership has made a telling difference to the growth of the college. The boundless energy of Dr. Sushil Lal Das, principal of the college, is also a source of inspiration to our students. Jeppiaar Engineering college is affiliated to Anna University and in the short period since it was started has grown into an institution that provides excellent technical education while keeping the overall growth and development of the students in mind. Both academic and non-academic activities are given equal importance, at Jeppiaar Engineering College we take our students’ success very seriously. துரைப்பாக்கம்: சென்னை அடுத்த செம்மஞ்சேரியில் செயின்ட் ஜோசப் பொறியியல் கல்லூரி உள்ளது. நேற்று மாலை வகுப்பு முடிந்ததும் மாணவர்கள் வீட்டுக்கு புறப்பட்டனர். அப்போது, நான்காம் ஆண்டு மாணவர்களை மூன்றாம் ஆண்டு மாணவர்கள் கேலி செய்து தாக்கியதாக கூறப்படுகிறது. இதனால் பரபரப்பு ஏற்பட்டது. இந்த தகவலை சக மாணவர்கள் கூறியுள்ளனர். இந்நிலையில், இன்று காலை கல்லூரி கேன்டீனில் மூன்றாம் ஆண்டு மாணவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். அப்போது அங்கு வந்த சீனியர் மாணவர்கள், ஜூனியர்களை தட்டிக் கேட்டுள்ளனர். வாக்குவாதம் முற்றி, ஒருவரையொருவர் தாக்கிக் கொண்டனர். கேன்டீனில் இருந்த பொருட்களை தூக்கி வீசி சூறையாடினர். அங்கிருந்த மற்ற மாணவர்கள் அலறியடித்து ஓட்டம் பிடித்தனர். இதனால் அங்கு பரபரப்பு ஏற்பட்டது.

தகவல் அறிந்து செம்மஞ்சேரி போலீசார் விரைந்து வந்தனர். கல்லூரி நிர்வாகத்தினர் இரு தரப்பினரையும் அழைத்து பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்தினர். அப்போது, ‘மூன்றாம் ஆண்டு மாணவர்கள் மீது நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்’ என நான்காம் ஆண்டு மாணவர்கள் கூறியுள்ளனர். போலீசார் மற்றும் கல்லூரி நிர்வாகம் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்காததால் ஆத்திரமடைந்த சீனியர் மாணவர்கள், வகுப்புகளை புறக்கணித்து விட்டு ராஜீவ்காந்தி சாலையில் திரண்டனர். இதனால் போக்குவரத்து பாதிக்கப்பட்டது. போலீசார் பலமுறை எச்சரித்தும் அவர்கள் கேட்கவில்லை. இதையடுத்து, அவர்களை கல்லூரி பஸ்களில் வலுக்கட்டாயமாக ஏற்றி வீடுகளுக்கு அனுப்பி வைத்தனர்.
