1.Idol Wing lodges plaint on stolen statues:
In what is seen as the first step towards detecting a major crime committed at least half a century ago, the Idol Wing of the Tamil Nadu police has preferred a complaint that two ancient bronze icons of Emperor Raja Raja Chola I and his royal consort Lokamadevi have been stolen from the world-famous Sri Brihadeeswarar temple (Big Temple).
2.‘India could be a market for Indonesian aircraft’:
There might be a market in India for Indonesian aircraft, with the country manufacturing a number of small, short take-off landing aircraft.
3. IndiGo launches direct flights to three cities:
A day after the relaunch of the Vijayawada- Kadapa flight, the Vijayawada International Airport on March 2, witnessed the launch of 10 direct services of IndiGo from the city to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Vijayawada is Indigo’s 50th destination.
4.No change in stand on Dalai Lama:
India has not changed its position on the Dalai Lama, the External Affairs Ministry said in response to a news report that the Union government had instructed senior officials and leaders to stay away from the celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the exile of the Tibetan spiritual leader in India.
5. INSV Tarini reaches Cape Town in last leg of its journey:
An all-women crew leading the Indian Navy Sailing Vessel (INSV) Tarini docked at a port in Cape Town in South Africa on March 2, in the last phase of its maiden voyage to circumnavigate the globe.The expedition is being covered in five legs, with stop-overs at Fremantle in Australia, Lyttleton in New Zealand, Port Stanley in Falklands, and Cape Town.
6.Chinese lawmakers’ wealth soars:
In a country where the Communist Party makes all the big decisions, Chinese lawmakers hold very little political power. But they have plenty of money $650 billion of it and that is growing.According to the Hurun Report, a research organisation in Shanghai that tracks the wealthy in China, the net worth of the 153 members of China’s Parliament and its advisory body that it deems “super rich” amounts to $650 billion, up by nearly a third from a year ago.
7. ArcelorMittal, Nippon Steel to jointly bid for Essar Steel:
Steel baron Lakshmi Niwas Mittal-led ArcelorMittal and Japanese steel major Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) have placed a joint bid for debt-laden Essar Steel.In its resolution plan for Essar Steel, ArcelorMittal’s subsidiary ArcelorMittal India Private Limited (AMIPL)on February 12 outlined the intention to have NSSMC formally join its bid for Essar Steel.
8.‘EV charging infrastructure offers Rs.2 lakh-crore business opportunity’:
The Indian electrical and electronics industry is expecting business worth more than Rs. 2 lakh crore from electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the next five years as the automobile industry firms up plans for electrification of passenger cars and public transport.
“In the next decade, technology will change the face of the industry. There is vast scope of business [possible] from charging infrastructure alone.”

9.Infy staff, taxmen, fake CA under CBI lens for fraud:
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating a “revised tax returns” fraud involving several unknown employees of Infosys Technologies, officials from the income tax (I-T) department and one fake chartered accountant (CA) from Bengaluru. This scam, benefiting employees of bellwether IT companies, was unearthed by the I-T department in late January According to the FIR, a copy of which is with TOI, some I-T officials and a few staffers of Infosys connived with the fake CA now disowned by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and filed 1,010 revised tax returns using forged documents in the names of 250 taxpayers of various private firms, during three assessment years and claimed refunds illegally. Infosys is the vendor for the I-T department to process e-returns.
10. Once shamed for its poor s*x ratio, Jhunjhunu is Raj’s pride:
The 2011 census brought Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan the ignominy of being the district with the lowest s*x ratio of 837 girls per 1,000 boys among 33 districts of the state.Seven years on, the district is being hailed as a model with the s*x ratio at birth (SRB) touching an impressive 955 girls per 1,000 boys.
11. Trump defiant after criticism of steel & aluminium tariffs:
US President Donald Trump said on March 2, trade wars were good and easy to win, striking a defiant tone after global criticism of his plan to slap tariffs on imports of steel and aluminium that triggered a slide in world stock markets.
12. Flipkart’s Singapore parent puts Rs.4,500cr in wholesale arm:
Flipkart India, the wholesale arm of the country’s largest e-commerce company, has received almost Rs.4,500 crore in what is one of the largest capital infusions for the entity, according to the latest regulatory filing with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). This large investment in the wholesale arm from its parent indicates the aggressive plans that Flipkart has charted out to counter its closest rival Amazon, which too runs a wholesale arm.
13. Bank of Baroda holds ‘proceeds of crime’: SA panel lawyer:
The Bank of Baroda’s (BoB’s) South African unit has been in possession of the “proceeds of crime” linked to a dairy farm project that involved the politically connected Gupta family, said Thato Ntimutse, a lawyer for the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Asset Forfeiture Unit.
14. MFIs back in hiring mode after demon lull:
With small and micro lenders microfinance institutions and small finance banks, getting their growth engines firing at 15%, expansion and recruitment is on a high after it hit a lull during demonetisation.
15. India a top market for IBM in 2017:
India was one of the fastest growing geographies for IBM in 2017, continuing a trend that started a few years ago. IBM India’s revenue grew by 8.6% in reported currency (5% in constant currency) in the year. Only Mexico and Spain grew faster among the major countries. China declined by 10% in constant currency. Many other geographies also declined, including the US, UK, Germany and Japan.
16. Non-KYC users can opt for gift vouchers: Paytm:
Consumers can still load money into a Paytm wallet even if they haven’t completed their Know-Your-Consumer (KYC) formalities. Paytm appears to be working around the latest directive of the RBI for mandatory KYC, where users can load money into their accounts through gift vouchers on the platform. But these gift vouchers won’t let you send money to others or send it back to your bank accounts. They also come with an expiry date of one year a standard practice among players issuing such vouchers.
17. Change rules of origin to check B’desh imports: Textile industry:
With apparel from Bangladesh made from fabric sourced out of China flooding the Indian market, the textile industry wants the union commerce ministry to tweak SAFTA’s (South Asia Free Trade Area) rules of origin to make it mandatory for the neighbour to use yarn and fabric produced in India in its garments to claim duty and quota-free exports.

You can search for courses ranging from programming, IT & software, science, humanities, photography, marketing to music and fitness. This website lists courses by relevance, popularity and price. Results also display proficiency level (beginner, intermediate, expert), star ratings, number of reviews and whether it is a self-paced programme. 19. Navjot wins India’s maiden gold in Asian wrestling meet:
Navjot Kaur on March 2, scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold in the senior Asian championships as she clinched the yellow metal in the 65kg freestyle category here.
