FORMER B TECH STUDENT OF SRM UNIVERSITY WOWS PRINCE WILLIAM & PRINCESS KATE WITH DOSA MACHINE

Prince William and Princess Kate may have met four entrepreneurs at a tech event in Mumbai on April 11, but it was Vikas Eshwar, an alumnus of SRM University, Chennai, who had them eating out of his hands. The royal couple who are on india tour met with four entrepreneurs at The Social, a collaborative cafe-workspace for young business talent, organised by the UK Trade and Investment in Mumbai.Among them was 24-year-old Eshwar, founder and CEO, Mukunda Foods, who had created 'Dosamatic', an automatic dosa maker.

"Our machines, which we make in commercial and domestic models, are available all over the UK and the US machine that was why we were called for the meet," says Eshwar, who graduated from SRM in 2013.He says it was in his final year of his B Tech course that he and his batchmate and Dosamatic co-founder Sudeep Sabat came up with the invention simply because they had become so fond of dosas and could never perfect the art of making a crispy paper-thin dosa.

Dr. Prasant Mohapatra is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Education at University of California, Davis. Recently he visited SRM University, Kattankulathur Campus as member of International Advisory Board (IAB). On his visit he was struck by the sheer scale of operations & cited “I had no idea the University was catering to over 40,000 students, and providing a wide array of courses in diverse areas of engineering, sciences, humanities, management, law, and health and medicine”.

The visit also helped to strengthen growing partnership between two institutions in student mobility programs.

On 24th Feb, Dr Derek Sinnott - Waterford Institute of Technology, Dublin Ireland, visited SRM University Kattankulathur. He described SRM University campus as a “lovely campus” He was there in order to establish mutual relations between his University and SRM, which will help in conducting collaborative research.
He also delivered lecture on the title “Sustainable Energy and Construction – A European Context”, in the department of Civil Engineering.

Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Chief Mentor and Founder of the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation visited SRM University, Kattankulathur for SIXTH INTERNATIONAL GROUNDWATER CONFERENCE (IGWC)

He addressed in conference saying, "Future wars may come from a war for water". He strongly emphasized that managing groundwater resources is important to avoid conflict over water.

DR NAKKEERAN VISITS SRM UNIVERSITY:

On Tuesday February 9th, 2016, Dr Nakkeeran Kaliyaperumal from University of Aberdeen visited SRM University. This is in order to establish partnership between two Universities. Dr Nakkeeran held meeting with principal officers of the University, in which they discussed on issue of signing Memoranda of Understanding (MOU). The singing of this MOU will help in conducting collaborative research in Engineering. It will also facilitate and allow students to undergo dual degree program. In this dual degree program, students will be spending first two years in SRM, and last two years at University of Aberdeen for Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) as well as last three years for Master of Engineering (M.Eng). This shows they would be given direct entry admission to level three. Dr Nakkerran also delivered a lecture on the theme Applications of Optics.
