🎓🇮🇳🇵🇭 IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR INDIAN MBBS ASPIRANTS – PHILIPPINES MD DEGREE NOW NMC-COMPLIANT

The Embassy of India in the Philippines has confirmed that the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme offered by CHED-recognized Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines meets the key requirements prescribed under the National Medical Commission (NMC) Foreign Medical Graduate Regulations, 2021, subject to compliance with all applicable conditions.

✅ 54-Month Doctor of Medicine (MD) Programme
(Excluding the Pre-Medical BS Programme)

✅ Mandatory Subjects Covered
As prescribed in Schedule-I of the NMC Notification dated 18 November 2021.

✅ Entire Programme Conducted in English
Making it suitable for international students, including Indian students.

✅ 12-Month Clinical Internship
Completed in the same medical institution or its attached teaching hospital.

✅ Certificate of Registrability
Graduates are eligible to obtain a Certificate of Registrability for medical practice in the Philippines, subject to prevailing regulations.

Important Clarification on Philippine Medical Licensure
As per Philippine law, medical graduates are required to qualify the Physician Licensure Examination (PLE) to obtain registration and a license to practice medicine in the Philippines.

Foreign medical graduates can appear for the PLE if reciprocity requirements under Philippine law are satisfied.

📌 A significant development in this regard is that the NEET (UG) 2025 Information Bulletin issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA) specifically states that Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission to Medical Colleges in India, subject to applicable rules and regulations.

This provision demonstrates that foreign nationals can pursue medical education in India after meeting the prescribed eligibility requirements, including NEET qualification where applicable.
