The college is situated in Vandalur about 30 Km from the Chennai city in a 50 acre campus which has a 400 bedded Tagore Medical College and Hospital. The Dental and Medical Hospitals are fully furnished with the latest equipments. The Dental students are trained in Basic Science studies and The Medical and Surgical clinics at the Medical College.The college has in-house Canteen, Boys and girl’s ho

stel, staff quarters, recreational facilities, Gymnasium, sports facilities and also a temple for worship.The college is linked to all parts of the city by road and rail. The Dental & Medical College is surrounded by 25 villages and caters to the rural public. Most of the treatments done at the Dental College are free or done at very minimal charges.3 batch students have completed their internship and 8th batch of students admitted for the academic year 2014-15.The students are encouraged to participate in academic activities like attending conferences, presenting papers and posters, academic competitions like quiz and essay writing. They also participate in intercollegiate cultural activities and sports. They have won prizes, awards and certificates for their performances.

Guest Lecture on Intellectual property rights and patent program was organized by Tagore Dental College and Hospital on 02-12-2020 at 10:00 in the college auditorium. Dr. I. Kannan, Associate professor, Department of Microbiology, Tagore medical college and hospital was invited as the resource speaker. He has completed his doctoral degree in medical microbiology from the University of Madras. He holds the post of officer in-charge of the central research laboratory.
The lecture presentation focused on the concepts of patenting and the ways in which one can safeguard his/her work from being stolen. He gave a clear picture about the various method of application of national and international patents. There were 51 participants in the program. Overall the program was very interactive and informative.

The Dental Education Unit & Curriculum Committee conducted a Webinar on the topic "Research Methodology" on 07/01/2021 where all the CRRI’s, post graduate students and staffs attended the program through google meet forum and few students attended the lecture from college auditorium. The guest speaker was Dr. Krithika Datta, Head of the Department, Department of cariology, Saveetha University. She started her presentation on the importance of research. She gave a brief outline about the randomized controlled clinical trials. She also emphasized on the importance of English language for the acceptance of a manuscript for publication. She highlighted on the ways and means of formulating the title which is the most important aspect of the manuscript. She is explained about the IMRAD format to the audience. Dr. Krithika datta also gave tips to the audience for the transforming a study to manuscript. The event ended with a brief question and answer session.
There were 99 participants in total for the research methodology program.

The Dental Education Unit & Curriculum Committee conducted a webinar on value education and health and hygiene on 15/12/2020 where all the first years and the CRRI’s attended the program through google meet forum and few students attended the lecture from college auditorium. The guest speaker of the day was Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, Principal, Collegiate Education, Aachi Educational Research Foundation.
She spoke elaborately about ethical values in the life of dentists. She started the presentation saying that “Valueble experience is what ultimately support our students.” She explained the difference between responding and reacting to incidences in life. She spoke about balancing of the different role we have to take during our lifetime. She emphasized on the importance of anger management. She also added a note on self-love and peace of mind. The best part of the lecture was that, for every aspect of Values and health and hygiene she spoke about, she exemplified them with stories in her real life and from the various incidences from her experience. The session was very engaging and interesting for the students and staffs who attended the event.

The DENTAL EDUCATION UNIT & CURRICULUM COMMITTEE conducted the webinar on 04/01/2021 where All the CRRI’s, post-graduates and the staffs attended the program through google meet forum and few students attended the lecture from the college auditorium. The guest speaker was Dr. Nandhini Suresh, Associate Professor, Meenakshi Ammal Dental College. She spoke elaborately about ethical values in the clinical practice. She explained good clinical practice has been a misnomer. She took the audience down the lane, in the past times when humans were used as trial models for various trials. She explained on how unethical these tests were and the side effects the humans faced due to this. She also gave glimpse of history of how human trials were carried out during Nazi’s reign and various other time periods. She enlightened the students on how to choose a study and perform those trials on humans.

The department of prosthodontics conducted a guest lecture on manuscript writing by Prof Dr Gopi Chander, MDS Professor, SRM Dental College and Hospital on 18/12/2020, in association with dental education unit. Staff members, Post graduates, CRRI students participated in the lecture. The speaker enlightened on the importance of manuscript writing and also the ways and means to write a manuscript efficiently. He also clarified the students and staffs various doubts on the topic. It was entirely an interactive and insightful session.

The Department of Oral and Maxillo-facial Pathology, Tagore Dental College & Hospital, conducted CDE (Online webinar) program on “Research and Grant Writing: An Overview” on 12th December 2020, Saturday in the online google meet platform. 75 participants including post graduate students and staff, from dental colleges had attended the program. The speaker for the day was Prof. Dr.K.Ranganathan, Head, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Ragas Dental College. The aim was to orient and educate post graduate students and staffs on research topic selection and receiving grants for research. The programme was credited with 1 CDE points by the TN DCI (TNDC approval number 168/20).

The College provides rehabilitation services for smoking groups through To***co cessation clinic by the Department of Public Health Dentistry. The TCC began offering services in 2016 as a pilot project and has since expanded into an ongoing program. The primary goal of the To***co Cessation Clinic is to bring about "greater awareness on the harmful effects of to***co use and To***co Control Laws" amongst general public. The department is actively involved in providing counselling and rehabilitation services to to***co users both at camp sites and in the department. The faculties of the department have professionally obtained training and certified by the prestigious Adyar Cancer Institute. The department provides cessation through various educational aids like charts, models, flip cards, etc., to explain the consequences of to***co consumption.
Follow up sessions are being set up to encourage them quit the habit of to***co consumption completely. The Clinic has converted good number of to***co users approaching the centre into Anti-to***co FIGHTERS for they are made to realise that their "QUALITY OF LIFE" is being improved.

They say that “A trip to nostalgia now and then is good for the spirit”.
Tagore dental college and hospital takes immense pleasure in successfully conducting the 4th ALUMNI MEET for the year 2020 on 22/11/2020 (Sunday) from 10:301 am to 12 noon. Thanks to technology for, despite the global pandemic, the management and the college alumni committee decided to conduct the alumni event virtually this year through the GOOGLE MEET SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM. There was an active participation from the alumni this year as (104 participants) 91 Alumni and 13 staffs participated for the event and reminisced their nostalgic journey they cherished during the college life.
Our Principal mam Dr. Chitraa R Chandran, Vice Principals Dr. S.Balagopal, Dr. CJ Venkatakrishnan, Dr. S. Jimson and other HODs and faculty members extended their happiness in participating in the event.

The alumni actively shared their nostalgic memories cherished in the college and also their life experiences in achieving their career goals like persuing a career abroad, establishing a good clinical practice and preparing and excelling in their career towards post graduation. They conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the college management and the faculties for enriching their clinical and personal skills during their college days. The entire event was fun filled with every alumni reminiscing their college life and looking forward to the 5th alumni meet to be conducted next year.

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Tagore Dental College conducted an online webinar titled “Fluoride: A Boon or bane to oral health”, on Tuesday (17-11-2020) at final year Google meet classroom. Around 98 students and 3 faculties participated in the webinar. The guest Speaker for the webinar was Dr. S. Jagadeeswara Rao who currently works as professor and head for the department of public health dentistry at Government dental college and hospital, Hyderabad, Telangana. He has a vast teaching experience for 18 years. He holds many honorary positions and worked in many projects like National Oral Health Program for Pit and Fissure sealants, Telangana state Government oral health project and also a Telangana State nodal officer for National Oral Health Program (NOHP). Sir had also published many articles in indexed national and international journals.
The webinar started at 4.00 PM with an introductory note about the speaker.

Later, Dr. S. Jagadeeswara Rao continued the session, gave insights to the students about the general properties and characteristics of fluorides. Then he explained the various mechanism of action of fluorides. He also elaborated on the various types of type’s fluorides and its mechanism and explained how it can be beneficial for oral health. The students actively interacted with the speaker and clarified various doubts to enhance their knowledge on the topic. The session finally came to an end by giving vote of thanks to the speaker

Tagore Dental College has a MOU with University of Malaya for exchange of students, staff and for research. In 2018 March 12 students visited the University with 2 staffs Dr Jimson Samson and Dr C J Venkatakrishnan and initiated some research proposals with the students of Malaya university. In November 3 students from the University attended the Live surgical workshop and Oral & Maxillo facial surgery Undergraduate convention and also had an experience of treatments done here. In 2019 April 12 students visited the university and also started some research work with the students of the University. In August 2019 Dr Venkatakrishnan was invited for a lecture in the PG convention of Malaya University and the postgraduate students of Tagore Dental are also attending and presenting papers
