Faculty of Architecture, Dr.M.G.R Educational and Research Institute organized an online workshop for the students of 2nd year B.Design for the Computer Applications in Design -II course. The Workshop was conducted by Ar. Mohammed Yasar Arafath, Principal architect and Design Consultant, on Design Software “RHINO”, along with the pliug-in, “Grasshopper”. The speaker is well versed in the field of 3D Design, having worked in a prestigious German design firm and has more experience in the design of complex shapes and forms. Ar. Arafath gave a brief lecture on the scope of Designing using Rhino+Grasshopper, delving into the details of how algorithms and parameter variations affect the shape and form of the design, and the different kinds of techniques and methods used. The session was very interactive as his approach to the students went beyond the scope of his topic.

Faculty of Architecture, Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute organizes an online workshop on 3D modeling for B.Design students. A total of about 50 students participated in this event. The objective of this workshop was to help the students make creative manual models. Manual modeling helps the students to gain a thorough grasp of the scale and proportion if the space being modeled. It also gets the students to come up with creative ways of using existing materials to form different textures and forms.
Our resource person Art. Mohankumar, who is well-versed in the art of modeling and sculpting, led the students to create models of their own using different materials such as Mount board, Foam board, water colours, match sticks, tooth picks, netted fabrics, scrubs, sponge, plaster of Paris, saw dust, etc. The students were able to make miniature models of an interior space and furniture models.
The students were able to grasp the main objective of this workshop - to understand the scale and proportion in relation to 3D modeling. They were also able to come up with creative use of the existing material for different textures and forms.

B. Design 2nd year and 3rd year workshop department.
The design of lathes can vary greatly depending on the intended application; however, basic features are common to most types. These machines consist of (at the least) a headstock, bed, carriage, and tailstock. Better machines are solidly constructed with broad bearing surfaces (slide-ways) for stability, and manufactured with great precision.
