CODE STORM ’26 | Engineer’s Day Coding Challenge

From debugging code by hand to developing logical solutions, CODE STORM ’26 challenged students to put their programming and problem-solving skills to the test.

Organised by the IEI NWC Students’ Chapter, Department of Networking and Communications, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, the 60-minute challenge featured two paper-based rounds — Debugging and Coding — where students worked through programming problems with accuracy and precision.

The challenge encouraged students to strengthen their logical thinking, debugging and problem-solving skills while applying their technical knowledge under time constraints.

The future just got louder, faster and more immersive at Aaruush ’26! 🚀

Drones took flight, robots hit the ground and immersive technology turned the campus into a live playground of innovation. From Hutark’s FPV drone demonstrations, Skydrone, Jatayu and AXSX telescopes to Karthikesh Robotics, the showcase brought aerial systems, automation and exploration into action.

The excitement continued with DRDO’s BMP-2 Tanker, Bumblebee, RoboDog, a Robotic Interactive Suit, a Hoverboard and immersive VR experiences.

Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), a self-balancing electric mobility platform for campus commuting and autonomous delivery, and Cabi Robot, a multilingual, IoT-enabled STEM companion, added even more momentum to the showcase.

From machines that move to technologies that redefine interaction, Aaruush ’26 is where innovation gets real.

A New Chapter in Healthcare Begins at SRMIST!

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) welcomed 250 MBBS and 100 BDS students at the Induction Ceremony for Freshers 2026, held at the Dr. T. P. Ganesan Auditorium, Kattankulathur.

With inspiring words from Chief Guest Prof. V. B. Narayana Murthy, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Kauvery Hospital, and addresses by SRMIST leadership, the ceremony highlighted the values that shape great healthcare professionals—excellence, ethics, humility, compassion and service.

The administration of the Hippocratic Oath marked a meaningful beginning to the students’ journey, reminding them of the responsibility and commitment that come with the white coat.

Exploring how emerging materials can shape a more sustainable future.

The Department of Physics and Nanotechnology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, in association with the Society for Materials Chemistry (SMC) – Kolkata and Chennai Chapters, presents EMEEGT 2026, a two-day national workshop on materials for energy, environment and green technologies.

The workshop features expert sessions by researchers from leading institutions, including IITs, CSIR institutes, Anna University, and VIT Chennai, alongside perspectives from industry on emerging materials and sustainable technologies.

NITTTR Chennai, in collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), organised an academic visit to SRMIST as part of the ITEC Programme on “Smart Technology Integration Frameworks for Transformative 21st Century STEM Teaching and Learning.”

A delegation of 29 international participants from 25 countries visited the Department of ECE, SRMIST, to explore technology integration for STEM education. The visit provided valuable exposure to emerging technologies, innovative teaching–learning practices, and technology-enabled approaches for enhancing STEM education.

The academic engagement also facilitated knowledge exchange, strengthened academic networking, and provided opportunities for future collaboration in STEM education.

Engineering ideas turned into working solutions!

As part of Engineers’ Day 2026, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), organised the Smart Ration Dispenser Hackathon 2026, challenging students to design and fabricate portable solutions for a smarter public distribution system.

With around 70 teams and 320 students from across Tamil Nadu, the hackathon brought together ideas spanning smart authentication, accurate dispensing, automation, IoT, modular design and sustainability.

The challenge gave students hands-on experience in design, fabrication, innovation and entrepreneurship, while encouraging them to address a real-world public need through engineering.

Congratulations to all the participating teams, mentors, jury members, faculty coordinators and the organising team on a meaningful Engineers’ Day celebration!

Taking technology beyond the classroom and into the community.

The Department of Networking and Communications, School of Computing, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, in collaboration with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), SRMIST, conducted a Balasabha Activity at Government High School, Karunilam Village.

Around 40 students of Classes VIII and IX gained hands-on exposure to computer hardware, exploring the components inside a CPU through simple, interactive demonstrations.

The initiative combined technology education with community outreach, helping young learners build practical understanding, spark curiosity and engage with technology in a meaningful way.
