The Disaster Management Committee, IIT Madras is a one-of-its-kind student driven initiative to safeguard the institute by preparing it for any disaster. The committee will take into consideration any impending disasters due to Fire, Earthquake, Flood, Tsunami, Cyclone, Stampede, Epidemic / Food Poisoning, etc, Drought, Accidents, etc. The various aspects of risk handling that the committee will b

e focusing on will be - recovery, mitigation, rehabilitation, response/ relief, reconstruction, preparedness by using the latest technology. The committee will promote the steps to be taken to mitigate these risks including training, evacuation plans, mock drills, check on the maintenance of equipments, etc. The DMC-IITM will also focus upon spreading awareness amongst the residents of the campus about their safety with regards to the various risks and hazards they are exposed to either on day-to-day basis or seldom. It also focuses on the tactics to be adopted in case of an emergency. The committee works towards creating and maintaining an institute-level disaster management plan. The objective of DMC-IITM is to make our institute a safer place to live in!!

We are deeply grieved to know about S Sree Ram's sudden departure, an Actor-KravMaga instructor at Chennai. With DMC IIT Madras, he always held a special bond and always supported and motivated us to develop daily.
