Parthasarathy Iyengar Charities for the establishment of this women’s college in 1992, a dream realisation and the result of the determination and sustained efforts of the two trusts. Vaishnav College for Women also has the distinction of being one of the youngest colleges in the country to have been granted autonomy by the University Grants Commission and the University of Madras.

In commemoration of World Alzheimer's Day, The Department of Psychology conducted "Outfit for a Cause" on 21st September 2026 as a part of the Social Spotlight Series.

The chosen colour for the day was Blue, symbolising strength, remembrance, and solidarity for those affected by Alzheimer's and their caregivers. The calming shade of blue served as a reminder of our commitment to spreading awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding memory loss.

The day showcased faculty and students coming together to represent support and compassion as a unified unit, dressed in various shades of blue.

As part of the initiative, an awareness reel was made, which aimed at normalizing forgetting and highlighting the importance of compassion, support and understanding over memory, fostering empathy towards individuals with Alzheimer's and their caregivers.

The B.Sc. Visual Communication Programme organised an Expert Talk on “Cultural Perception from New Media among Modern Audiences” on 22nd September 2026, featuring Dr. J. Dinesh Kumar, Teaching Fellow, Anna University.

Dr. J. Dinesh Kumar shared valuable insights into the changing role of new media and its influence on cultural perspectives. It encouraged critical thinking amongst students on new media, audience perception, and how culture is experienced in the digital age.

Spectra HR Conclave 2026 – Ideas for the Future of Work

The Post Graduate Programme in Human Resource Management hosted its 10th annual flagship event – Spectra HR Conclave 2026, themed “HR 5.0: The Human Side of an AI World.”

The session was inaugurated by Mr. Joseph Antony Rajesh, HR Leader at Haworth India & MEA, who emphasized the evolving role of HR and the enduring importance of human capabilities in a technology-driven workplace.

This was followed by insightful addresses:

•Mr. Wilson, Head of Human Resource & Administration, BOT VFX, highlighted the significance of human–AI collaboration in building an intelligent and adaptive workforce.

•Ms. Sindhu Grandhey, GM – Wheels India Limited, underscored the need for human-centricity, critical evaluation, investigation, and judgment when engaging with AI-generated insights.

A Panel Discussion brought together leading voices:

•Mr. Ramakrishnan Rajagopalan, CHRO & Head – Customer Support, Go Colors (India) Ltd.

•Mr. Nelson Kulandairaj, Chief Digital Officer, CIEL HR, Ma Foi Group

•Ms. Ayshwarya Robin, Lead – Talent Management, TAFE

The panel examined the possibilities of co-existing with AI through collaboration rather than replacement, stressing the irreplaceable value of human thinking, empathy, decision-making, networking, advisory roles, and psychological safety.

The conclave made it clear that AI must be embraced as a partner and decision-support tool, not as a substitute for human capabilities.

The Department of Management Studies – B.B.A. (Shift I & II) organized a Heritage Walk on 20 September 2026 for the third-year students to the Madras High Court.

Led by Mr. N. L. Rajah, Senior Advocate, Madras High Court, the walk offered valuable insights into the institution’s historical and architectural significance. Students also visited the High Court Museum, where they explored artifacts, documents, and exhibits that trace the evolution of law and justice in Chennai.

The visit provided a meaningful blend of academic learning and cultural exposure, deepening students’ appreciation of the city’s rich legal and heritage legacy.

✨ Ideas Converge, Futures Emerge

The Department of Commerce, M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women (Autonomous), in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), successfully hosted its Three-Day National Seminar from 17–19 September 2026 on the theme: “Next Gen GST Reforms & Their Socio-Economic Impact: The Path to Viksit Bharat 2047.”

Day 3 – 19 September 2026 featured a dynamic paper presentation track exploring the intersection of Fiscal Federalism, Efficiency Gains, and Cultural Goods & Heritage Preservation. The session, presided over by CA Vishesh Unni Raghunathan (Partner, A. Raghunathan & Co LLP) and CA Renuka Murali (Proprietor, J. Murali & Co), brought forth innovative ideas to strengthen an inclusive taxation ecosystem.

This was followed by a Policy Panel Discussion with eminent voices from industry, governance, and professional practice:

•Moderator: CA R. Srivatsan, Assistant Director, National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Chennai Zonal Campus

•Panelists:
•CA V. V. Sampath Kumar, FCA, DISA (ICAI), Practicing Chartered Accountant

•CA CMA Ganesh Sankararaman, Executive Vice President & CFO, Sify Infinit Spaces Ltd

The seminar culminated in a Valedictory & Prize Distribution Ceremony, graced by Shri S.K. Vimalanathan, I.R.S., Chief Commissioner of CGST and Central Excise, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Zone. Drawing from ancient Tamil literature, he highlighted timeless perspectives on taxation, seconded by Session Chair CA S. Sundar Raman. The ceremony celebrated all delegates and honored the Best Paper Presentation Awardees.

The National Seminar on GST Reform witnessed 51 papers presented across tracks and welcomed 170 delegates from 16 institutions, marking a fitting finale to three days of impactful discourse.
