The Department of Tourism & Travel Management (TTM) was established in the year 2004 under the realm of Department of History to produce quality human resource to cater the ever increasing demand in Tourism, Travel and allied sector. At the initial stage, The Under-graduate programme was offered as a self-financing course and, in the year 2007, the course has been converted as full-fledged governm
ent aided programme for advanced learning in tourism and allied disciplines with the seed grant from Directorate of Collegiate Education, Department of Higher Education, Government of Tamilnadu. During 2013, the Department has upgraded as Post-graduate department by offering Master of Tourism Administration (MTA), a two year management programme spreading over four semesters with focus on tourism, travel, hospitality and allied sectors. In 2016, The nomenclature of MTA has been converted to MTTM (Master of Tourism and Travel Management) as per UGC (University Grants Commission). Some of the alumni of TTM have reached the middle and senior level managerial positions in different travel companies. Some have chosen to become educators and researchers while a few have opted to be entrepreneurs. The Department is widespread in the campus for professionalism and it set an example to whole college in terms of conducting, organizing and managing events successfully. The Department is also an active partner of Department of Tourism (DoT), Government of Tamilnadu. It is also one of few academic institutions in the state of Tamilnadu to offer Post-graduate programme in the academic area of Tourism and Travel. Academic programs
