Sau SRK and Late MBBI College, Dahanu Dnyan Bharti Society was formed with the objective of providing higher education facilities to the students residing within the vicinity of this town. Sau.

Dnyan Bharti Society was formed in 1975 with the objective of providing higher education facilities to the students residing in and within the vicinity of this town. It is a laudable effort made by the residents of this town, who have an academic and social bent of mind. The Society decided to start a college, as the facilities for higher education were not available anywhere in the four adjoining

talukas of Thane district viz Dahanu, Talasari, Jawhar and Mokhada. The College in this area has helped, especially the poor and lower middle class students, who would have otherwise, perhaps been denied the opportunity of pursuing their higher studies. Sitabai Ramkrushna Karandikar Senior College of Commerce and Late Mehernosh Boman Burjor Irani College of Arts were started by the Society, in the year 1981 and 1984 respectively. The College is named after the wife of Late Shri Ramkrushna Janardan Karandikar and Late son of Shri Boman Burjor Irani who made generous donations to the Society. The Society was also successful in getting permission to start a division of Junior College from the academic year 1985-86. Accordingly F.Y.J.C. Commerce stream was opened in 1985-86 and subsequently S.Y.J.C. class was started next year. Another feather was added to the glory of this institution by erection of "Sau. Rupvantiben Anopchand Karnavat Arts, Cultural & Sports Centre" in the year 1995-96. This has helped the College to give an exposure to the inherent qualities of the students particularly in the field of drama and cultural activities. With the generous donation from BSES (Bombay Suburban Electric Supply) Ltd., Dahanu Road, junior college of Science (XIth) was opened in the academic year 1997-98 and subsequently XIIth Science class in 1998-99. It was named as BSES Junior College of Science on no grant basis. Now grants are sanctioned by the government. The College is situated on the banks of 'Chandra Sagar' lake at Vadkun village in Dahanu taluka. It is predominantly an adivasi area, about two km. away from the Dahanu Road Railway Station, a quiet place enjoying the greenery of nature and chirping of birds, appealing everyone to follow their academic pursuits. The College covers an area of about 10 acres of land, thus leaving a vast scop for expansion and development of academic activities. The Society was fortunate enough in acquiring this plot of land at a very concessional rate, thanks to the generosity of its owner, who herself had keen interest in the academic development of Dahanu.
