Rotaract Club, Law College Dehradun faculty of Uttaranchal University organised a “Summer Cloth Donation Drive” on the occasion of Guru Purnima on 24th July, 2021. Summer clothing was distributed among the slum dwellers of Premnagar area. In these pressing times where the whole world is fighting against the pandemic the only way forward is one with love and empathy. The students at Law College Dehradun are grateful beyond measure to have been able to contribute towards bringing about a positive change in the society, we look forward to keep giving back to society to the best of our capabilities.

The pride month is dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community, their struggles against all bias and prejudices in the society and being free from all inhibitions. It symbolises dignity, equality, self affirmation and love for all.

Rotaract Club, Law College Dehradun is elated to present to you The International Pride Month Article Writing Competition 2021 with the primary objective of providing individuals with a platform to write about relevant outreach topics and subject matter with respect to the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. This is not just a competition but the means through which we can show our solidarity to the LGBTQIA+ community, it is a step forward towards fostering a safe environment for all where only empathy, love and equality prevails.

In response to the writ petition filed by Navtej Johar and five others from the LGBTIA+ community challenging the constitutionality of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code in June 2016, on September 6th 2018 the apex court struck down Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code decriminalizing consensual relationship in the same s*x thus finally recognizing the constitutional rights of equality, dignity, expression, life and liberty of LGBTQIA+ Indians.
