The College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with NSS Shivalik, organized an expert lecture on “Gender Equality: A Pathway to Women Empowerment” to create awareness towards the role of equal opportunities in education, employment, and social participation for women. Adv. (Dr.) Kalpana Bilgaye was an expert speaker who served as a legal professional, academic researcher, and social contributor. She highlighted the significance of gender equality and discussed how empowering women contributes to the development of society and the nation through the real-based case study and various examples of successful women leaders, scientists, and social reformers. The discussion also focused on issues such as gender discrimination, equal education opportunities, workplace equality, and women’s safety. Students actively participated in the discussion and shared their views on eliminating gender discrimination and promoting equality. The program concluded with a vote of thanks; the speaker was felicitated with a token of appreciation for their valuable presence and guidance.

*Glimpse of Shivalik Annual Athletics Meet – 2026*
We are happy to share with you all that the *Shivalik Annual Athletics Meet – 2026* was successfully organized on 13th and 14th March 2026 at the Shivalik Sports Complex Ground. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments and branches of the institution.
A total of 105 students participated in the athletics meet. The competition included nine track and field events conducted in both Boys and Girls categories, namely:
• 100 Meter Race
• 200 Meter Race
• 400 Meter Race
• 1500 Meter Race
• 4×200 Meter Mixed Relay
• Long Jump
• Triple Jump
• Shot Put
• Discus Throw

The participants showcased remarkable sportsmanship, physical endurance, and mental strength while competing on the athletic track. The event created a vibrant sporting atmosphere and encouraged students to actively engage in physical activities alongside their academic commitments.
The organizing team expresses sincere gratitude to the esteemed management for granting the necessary approvals and continuous guidance for the successful conduct of the event.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Director SCE Dr. T.S. Sidhu sir for his constant support and encouragement throughout the event. Special thanks are also extended to Principal Pharmacy Dr. Sayantan Mukhopadhyay sir, DSW Dr. Shabnam Ara ma'am, Dean Academic Dr. Surmadhur Pant sir, and Dean Agriculture Dr. S. The talk was highly informative and inspired students and faculty members to adopt environmentally responsible approaches in research and industry practices. Students observed key sections including Bacteriology, Serology, Mycology, Virology where they were introduced to procedures such as culture techniques, staining.

The session was guided by expert faculty and technical staff, who explained biosafety protocols, sample handling, and the role of microbiology in hospital diagnostics. On the occasion of the 64th National Pharmacy Week, an expert lecture was organized on 21/11/2025 on the theme “ *Strengthening Immunization Services: The Expanding Role of Pharmacists* .” The session was delivered by *Prof. (Dr.) Shaili Vyas* , a distinguished faculty member and public health expert from SRHU University.

Dr. Vyas highlighted the growing importance of pharmacists in modern immunization programs and emphasized how the profession is steadily moving beyond its traditional boundaries. She discussed the key responsibilities pharmacists can undertake in vaccine delivery, including cold chain management, patient counselling, vaccine administration, monitoring of adverse events, and community-level awareness activities. The lecture also showcased global examples where pharmacists are already playing a frontline role in improving immunization coverage.

The session proved highly insightful for the students, offering them a forward-looking understanding of how pharmacists can significantly contribute to strengthening national and global immunization services. It aligned perfectly with the objective of National Pharmacy Week—to recognize and promote the evolving contributions of pharmacists in healthcare.

College of Pharmacy, under its National Pharmacy Week (NPW) 2025 activities and community extension initiatives, organized a Health Check-up Camp at Kotra Kalyanpur in collaboration with Subharti Hospital. The primary objective of this camp was to provide basic health services to the local community, promote awareness on preventive healthcare, and encourage early diagnosis of common health issues.
More than 70 patients from the nearby community benefitted from the health check-up services. The team of 10 medical official along with their team gave consultation and medication. Faculty members and students of College of Pharmacy ensured smooth coordination and patient assistance throughout the camp.
Students of Clini Pharm Club in association with the NSS Unit conducted a community-based survey focusing on health, hygiene, and immunization practices among infants and toddlers. The activity aimed to create awareness among parents regarding childhood vaccination and hygiene practices that significantly contribute to early childhood health under the NPW theme”Pharmacists as Advocates of Vaccination”
