Mock Drill Session by SDRF during Workshop

A highly informative and practical Mock Drill Session was conducted by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) during the six-day workshop on “Strengthening School Resilience in Fragile Himalayan Landscapes in Alignment with the National School Safety Framework (2019)” at Dolphin (PG) Institute of Biomedical & Natural Sciences, Dehradun.

The SDRF team demonstrated essential life-saving techniques and emergency response practices, including evacuation procedures, search and rescue methods, fire safety measures, CPR, first aid, stretcher handling, and safe movement during disaster situations. The session was highly interactive and activity-oriented, giving participants a hands-on understanding of how to respond effectively during emergencies such as earthquakes, landslides, fires, and other disaster situations.

School teachers, participants, and students actively participated in the mock drill and learned the importance of preparedness, coordination, alertness, and quick decision-making during emergencies. The session highlighted that disaster preparedness is not only about knowledge, but also about regular practice, discipline, teamwork, and confidence.

The mock drill by SDRF added great practical value to the workshop and strongly reinforced the message that safe schools are built through awareness, preparedness, training, and timely action.
