The Department of Mental Health Nursing, Himalayan College of Nursing in collaboration with the Trained Nurses Association of India, Uttarakhand State Branch, organized a National Seminar on “Creating Culture of Mental Wellness”. Bringing together nursing professionals, faculty members, students, and healthcare experts from across India, the seminar focused on building emotionally resilient and compassionate healthcare environments through discussions on self-care, workplace wellness, positive psychology, and mental well-being.

With participation from 314 delegates representing multiple states, the seminar emerged as a meaningful platform for dialogue, awareness, and collaboration. Speakers and experts emphasized the importance of normalizing conversations around mental health, fostering supportive communities, and integrating mental wellness into healthcare education and practice. The event concluded with a collective commitment towards creating a more inclusive, empathetic, and stigma-free culture of mental wellness.

The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SRHU organized the inaugural lecture of its International Talk Series featuring Dr. Sumit Kumar, Lead Medicinal Scientist, University of Bergen, Norway. Delivering an engaging session on “How Do We Discover Medicines? Multidisciplinary Approaches in Neuroscience and Tuberculosis,” he highlighted the evolving landscape of modern drug discovery through medicinal chemistry, computational biology, pharmacology, and translational research.

The lecture offered valuable insights into cutting-edge research in neuropsychiatric disorders and anti-tuberculosis drug discovery, while emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in addressing global health challenges. The Department of Clinical Research, HIMS celebrated International Clinical Trials Day 2026 under the theme, “Stronger Together: Advanced Therapy Clinical Trials Without Borders.” The event brought together learning, creativity, and collaboration through poster presentations, awareness sessions, role plays, interactive discussions, and a visit to the Clinical Trial Centre. MSc Clinical Research students participated with great enthusiasm, making the celebration vibrant and engaging. Team H – Hasnain & Rajni Saini and Team F – Sadhna Mishra & Ruchika were declared winners of the poster presentation competition.

The celebration was led by Dr. Ahmadulla Shariff, Dean, HIMS, SRHU; Dr. Nikku Yadav; Dr. Manisha Sharma; and Ms. Pooja Kandari from the Department of Clinical Research. A special highlight of the day was the activity “Pass the Success Forward,” which emphasized teamwork and collective growth among future clinical research professionals. An impactful Drug Awareness Program was organized by the Nasha Mukt Hostel Committee at Swami Rama Himalayan University for students of the School of Yoga Sciences.

The session was conducted by Dr. Nikku Yadav and Dr. Nikita Kimothi, focusing on the harmful effects of substance abuse, myths related to alcohol consumption, mental health awareness, and practical ways to resist peer pressure.

The interactive session encouraged students to make informed and healthy life choices while promoting a safe, drug-free campus environment. A quiz on myths and facts about alcohol further enhanced student participation and awareness.
A total of 73 students actively participated in the program.
Together, we move towards a healthier and addiction-free society.

Prof. Subhra Chakraborty — PhD, FNA, FASc, FNASc, FNAAS, Professor of Eminence, distinguished DBT scientist, former Director of NIPGR, New Delhi, and member of the University Research Advisory Board (URAB), SRHU — visited the university campus on May 15–16, 2026 for extensive interactions with faculty members, researchers, and students of the School of Biosciences and School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. During her visit, she also met Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Dobhal and discussed the university’s evolving research ecosystem, interdisciplinary innovation, and future scientific collaborations.

Faculty members presented their ongoing research across genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, cancer biology, regenerative medicine, bioinformatics, pharmaceutical sciences, and translational research. The discussions focused on interdisciplinary collaborations, innovation-driven research, commercialization potential, publication quality, patentability, and opportunities aligned with national funding agencies including DBT, DST, ICMR, and AYUSH.

Prof. Chakraborty shared valuable insights from her extensive work in plant genomics, nutritional genomics, plant immunity, stress genomics, and delayed fruit softening research. Facilitated by Dr. Bindu Dey, Director Research, SRHU, the sessions encouraged stronger academic networking, collaborative research ecosystems, and impactful scientific contributions aimed at advancing innovation and societal benefit.
