AIRSO JMI Stands in Firm Solidarity with Com. Habeeba and Other Students against Arbitrary Hostel Evictions

Jamia Admin has no time to probe admission scams or hostel food quality, yet acts swiftly to manhandle and evict students who raise their voices.

Today, Com. Habeeba, a BHM Hostel resident, was forcefully evicted. Her room was sealed and her utilities were thrown out of the hostel. The administration claimed she fails the 55% SGPA renewal requirement—despite her renewal already being approved and hostel fees collected. Enforcing this rule mid-semester, after it was ignored during renewal, is a clear clampdown on student voices.

Habeeba has been at the forefront of struggles against admission scams and poor hostel food. Targeting her and other students is part of a deliberate agenda to suppress dissent and instill fear.

Hostel admission requires only 45% SGPA, far lower than the 55% demanded for renewal. This also raises questions on the reasonableness of the 55% for renewal

AIRSO JMI strongly condemns these moves by the Jamia administration. We urge all students to unite and resist this repression.

Jamia Admin, Stop the Witch-Hunting of Jamia School Students!

On 12th September, 2026, the Jamia School Hostellers waged a spontaneous but valiant protest in front of the VC Office Gate against the unhygienic food in the school hostels, as lizards and other insects were found in the hostel food. As a result of the uncompromising struggle, the Jamia Admin had to accept the demands in principle, within 1-2 hours.

But the incident that followed that protest is terrifying and in fact exposing the fascist nature of Jamia Admin. Around 5 school students, mainly minors, were called to the hostel and were questioned for 5 hours. As per the information from the school students, 4 students were kept till around 11:00PM and the last student reached the hostel at 11:55PM.

It is alleged by the Jamia School students that the admin was coercing them to testify that the lizard was planted by the students only and that this was a part of a conspiracy to defame the university. Also, there is information that the mess contractor of Jamia School hostel is a relative of a member of Jamia Admin. If the information proves to be correct, then the Jamia Administration members’ direct involvement in profiteering from running the mess will get exposed. AIRSO JMI will inquire into this matter to ascertain the veritability of the information available.

At the same time, it is really shameful to see Jamia Admin targeting the protesting students instead of punishing the culprits, who are profiteering by providing cheap quality food at higher mess fees than before. AIRSO JMI strongly condemns this fascist attitude of Jamia Admin. AIRSO JMI declares unwavering solidarity with the students of the school hostel and appeals to the students to come forward and expose this unholy admin-contractor nexus.

Revolutionary Greetings to the Jamia School Hostellers!

Jamia School Hostel students organized a spontaneous protest by marching to the VC Gate, as a lizard was found in the hostel food. The protestors could win in making the administration accept their demands withing 2 hours of protests. These small but significant victories give new hopes for the revival and advancement of a radical and fighting spirited mass movements in Jamia Millia Islamia. We salute the courage of the Jamia School students.

Betrayal won't be Tolerated by Jamia Students

The Fight for Hygienic and Healthy Hostel Food Continues....

J&K Girls' Hostel students are forced to come to the streets once again as the promises made by Jamia admin has been breached and they are forced to restart the sit-in protest due to the betrayal by Jamia Admin. The contractor who was supposed to be removed still continues to be the contractor with a fake company name. This betrayal shall not be tolerated by the Jamia students. The students will continue the protest till there is a genuine resolution of the issues faced by the students.

But instead of solving the concerns of the students, they are using cunning tactics like switching off the lights to disperse the students. This exposes the double standards of the admin who claims as the torchbearers of women safety and at the same time, forces female students to protest in darkness. These nasty tactics won't help in dispersing the students. The students are still adamant with their demands. The students won't step an inch back without a genuine resolution of the hostel food issue without any kind of cunning betrayal tactics.

AIRSO JMI stands in full solidarity and support with the students who are continuing their uncompromosing struggle.

DSW Jawab Do! Today is the Deadline...

The students of Jamia Millia Islamia are sitting infront of the DSW Office asking for a concrete response on the issues raised by the students on Admission Scam. Today was the deadline, DSW proposed infront of the students. The only thing we want is a favourable answer. But DSW is more interested in creating drama than answering the students. DSW is not ready to meet the students. She is telling that only 3 students will be permitted inside. But our past experience is of intimidation and breach of privacy, which shall not repeat. On this burning issue of paper leak, Jamia admin is keeping this attitude. This is nothing but arrogance. The arrogance that students can't do anything, no matter how corrupt, fascist or anti-student they are. This arrogance shall be answered by students' solidarity.

Tuesday is the Deadline!

Jamia Students will Continue the Fight against Admission Scam

From 24th August, 2026, the Jamia students have been raising their voice against the admission scam and irregularities. Various cases and instances of students denied admission even after having higher rank than the selected ranks during the spot round, are available infront of us which clearly shows that admission scam took place. To cover up this, they also tried to give admission to those who were denied admission, whose cases were getting highlighted. This scam raises questions about the alarming situation in Jamia Millia Islamia, where the whole admission process has become corrupt and opaque. Also, the J&K resident reservations were violated in Faculties of Fine Arts and Architecture. The sit-in protest that began on 24th August, was brutally crushed and the 4 students were arbitrarily suspended and campus banned. Thus, on 1st September, 2026, the students of JMI, under the leadership of the student organizations of JMI marched to the DSW Office. During the protest, DSW didn't agree to meeting the students. After the protest was dispersed, the DSW spontaneously called some of the organisations (while two-three organizations were not present) for delegation. The following demands, which were already put forward in front of DSW (on 25th August, 2026) were reiterated infront of her:

1) Resignation of Controller of Examination

2) Spot admission registration shall be held online and the higher rank students should be preferred over the lower rank students. At the same time, there should be at least three or four rounds of admission before going for the spot admission process. 

3) Publish the pre-interview and post-interview marks and cut-offs in courses with interviews, such as BA LLB(H), MBA etc. 

4) Fill all the reserved seats for J&K Residents, Kashmiri Migrants and PwD students in all courses where it applies. 

5) Ensure admission for those students who could not appear either for PGDCA or MCA (AI & ML) due to the clash of entrance dates. 

6) Ensure a complete transparent admission process by publication of final marks in course and hostel admissions.
