On 25th January, the Northeast society of Gargi college celebrated its Annual Cultural Fest in the Gargi college auditorium at 10:30 onwards. The fest is honoured by the Chief Quest Angshuman Siddhanta. Angshuman Siddhanta is a sustainable cold-chain expert at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
Mélangé is an effort to highlight the ethnic and cultural diversity of Northeast India while educating students about the region’s potential. It is an initiative to bridge the gap between the Indian Northeastern and mainlanders while rescinding preconceived notions and stereotypes. This annual fest is also intended to facilitate an effective dialogue between the students and the college fraternity at large. It also aspires to promote cultural exchange and friendly interaction among students from various Delhi university campuses.
In addition to the formal sessions and cultural events, we had competitions opened to all the Delhi University students . Literary contests titled “Tourism potential in Northeast India”, it has to be delved deeply into the local and cultural life of the region while also gaining insight into Northeast India’s tourism industry and its potential.
A Photography competition with the theme “A festoon of hills adorns the serenity of plains” was conducted as a part of the fest.
There were also participants who came and performed in Mélangé as a part of cultural events. There were three colleges namely Kamala Nehru college, Kirori Mal college and Maharaja Agrasen college. They had made the event more successful with beautiful songs and dances.
We also opened a stall as a part of the fest where there was lots of food and other exciting items. Altogether it was 7 stalls both the student's stall and other business stalls.
The fest was a big success with an abundant number of audiences and it went smoothly as per plan of the event.
