Montek Singh Ahluwalia served as the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of the Government of India from 2004 to 2014. A key figure in India’s economic reforms, he has held several important positions including Special Secretary to the Indian Prime Minister; Commerce Secretary; Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Finance Secretary, Ministry of Finance. He was also Member of the Planning Commission, Government of India and Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. Mr. Ahluwalia has also worked as Director of the Independent Evaluation Office, International Monetary Fund .

Caucus: The Discussion Forum & IQAC, Hindu College take immense pride in introducing the fifth speaker of our conversational series, , Mr Bibek Debroy!

Bibek Debroy is an economist & author. He is the chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. He was also a member of the NITI Aayog. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2015. Mr Debroy has authored over 110 books in the field of Economics, Polity, Indology and Sanskrit. He translated the unabridged version of Mahabharata into English, becoming only the third person ever to achieve the feat. He was featured in the 2019 Limca Book of Records as a "most prolific translator".

Soumya Swaminathan is currently serving as the Chief Scientist at the World Health Organization (WHO). Ms Swaminathan is an Indian Paediatrician and Clinical Scientist known for her work in Tuberculosis. She is also the Secretary of the Department of Health Research - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research - the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of Biomedical research.
