The Department of Geography is one of the leading departments amongst the colleges of University of Delhi. It is one of the most vibrant department of the college. The department has a team of well-qualified and research oriented teachers. The Geography Association has always remained active in imparting up-to-date knowledge regarding latest issues through organizing various activities like specia

l lectures, workshops and training. The association celebrates its annual two-day Geo-fest "VASUNDHARA" every year in which students participate in inter-college competitions such as debates, paper presentation, poster-making, map-marking, photography, skit, quiz and other activities related to geographical aspects. On this occasion, "Landscape" - an annual geographical magazine is brought out by the department that showcases and brings out the talent of young geographers. The students are also taken for educational/field visits to expose them to changing ground realities in both physical and human landscape, field survey techniques for collecting various types of primary data, its analysis, and to have insights on the development of recent techniques like remote sensing and GIS at various stages from training to research applications. The department is taking an initiative to organize a national seminar wherein the students will get an opportunity to interact and discuss with reputed geographers from various institutions across the country.

The Geography Department gave us more than knowledge; it gave us perspectives, friendships, and stories we’ll carry wherever we go. From contour lines to life lines, we’ve navigated it all together.

As we step into new terrains, there’s gratitude in our hearts for every lecture, every laugh, and every late submission that somehow made it through. This goodbye isn’t an end, but a transition — from students of geography to explorers of the world.

📢 Inaugural Session & Panel Discussion | National Seminar

The National Seminar commenced with a formal Inaugural Session, setting a thoughtful and inspiring tone for the event.

The session began with the Welcome Address by Dr. P. Thongkhanthang (Convener, Teacher-in-Charge), followed by the Inaugural Address by Prof. Arun Kumar Attree (Principal, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi).

We were honoured by the presence of our distinguished dignitaries:
• Chief Guest — Prof. Subhash Anand (Head, Department of Geography, University of Delhi)
• Guest of Honour — Prof. V. S. Negi (DUTA President, University of Delhi)

The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Prof. Swati Rajput (Shaheed Bhagat Singh College).

This was followed by an engaging Panel Discussion on “Public Health Systems and India’s Developmental Challenges”, chaired by Prof. Nitasha Malhotra (Kamala Nehru College).

We were privileged to have our esteemed panellists:
