Albatross- The Zoological Society of Gargi College celebrated Science Day, by organising an event under ‘Scintillations 2026’. The event titled ‘Murder, Mystery and Mayhem’ was an enthralling team game where in participants had to guess a trio of questions, based off clues that were scientifically aligned! The event saw great participation, with several inter-college teams attending as well. The event was overlooked by faculty from the Zoology department and was also graced by the presence of Principal ma’am. Apart from the event, the Department of Zoology demonstrated some interesting experiments in the Audi foyer, which included scale casting of animal hair and human fingerprint detection by charcoal powder. Students from the department and participants also attended, a movie screening, followed by a quiz, organised by the college. The day concluded by awarding the winners of the game!
अल्बाट्रॉस- गार्गी कॉलेज की जूलॉजिकल सोसाइटी ने 'सिंटिलेशन 2026' के तहत एक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन करके विज्ञान दिवस मनाया। 'मर्डर, मिस्ट्री एंड मेहेम' शीर्षक वाला कार्यक्रम एक आकर्षक टीम गेम था जहां प्रतिभागियों को वैज्ञानिक रूप से संरेखित सुरागों के आधार पर प्रश्नों की तिकड़ी का अनुमान लगाना था! इस कार्यक्रम में बड़ी भागीदारी देखी गई, जिसमें कई अंतर-कॉलेज टीमों ने भी भाग लिया। इस कार्यक्रम को जूलॉजी विभाग के संकाय द्वारा अनदेखा किया गया था और प्रिंसिपल मैडम की उपस्थिति से भी सम्मानित किया गया था। कार्यक्रम के अलावा, जूलॉजी विभाग ने ऑडी फ़ोयर में कुछ दिलचस्प प्रयोगों का प्रदर्शन किया, जिसमें जानवरों के बालों की स्केल कास्टिंग और चारकोल पाउडर द्वारा मानव फ़िंगरप्रिंट का पता लगाना शामिल था। विभाग के छात्रों और प्रतिभागियों ने कॉलेज द्वारा आयोजित एक फिल्म स्क्रीनिंग और उसके बाद एक क्विज़ में भी भाग लिया। दिन का समापन खेल के विजेताओं को पुरस्कार देकर हुआ!

Albatross- The Zoological Society of Gargi College celebrated Darwin’s Day by organising a Face Painting Competition during the ECA break. The event was graced by the presence of Principal ma’am, whose motivating words encouraged the students and set an inspiring tone. The programme began with a warm welcome to the teachers, judges, and participants. The event was honoured by the presence of Dr. Rashmi from the Department of Zoology and Dr. Geeta from the Department of Botany, whose guidance added value to the event. The competition provided a creative platform where art met science, allowing participants to express themes of evolution, animals, and biodiversity. Working in pairs, students showcased creativity, relevance, and artistic skill. The event concluded with the felicitation of the judges, and awarding the winners, leaving everyone inspired and appreciative of Darwin’s enduring legacy.
अल्बाट्रॉस- गार्गी कॉलेज की ज़ूलॉजिकल सोसाइटी ने ECA ब्रेक के दौरान फेस पेंटिंग कॉम्पिटिशन ऑर्गनाइज़ करके डार्विन डे मनाया। इस इवेंट में प्रिंसिपल मैम भी मौजूद थीं, जिनके मोटिवेट करने वाले शब्दों ने स्टूडेंट्स का हौसला बढ़ाया और एक इंस्पायरिंग माहौल बनाया। प्रोग्राम की शुरुआत टीचर्स, जजों और पार्टिसिपेंट्स के गर्मजोशी से स्वागत के साथ हुई। इस इवेंट में ज़ूलॉजी डिपार्टमेंट की डॉ. रश्मि और बॉटनी डिपार्टमेंट की डॉ. गीता भी मौजूद थीं, जिनके गाइडेंस ने इवेंट को और भी खास बना दिया। कॉम्पिटिशन ने एक क्रिएटिव प्लेटफॉर्म दिया जहाँ आर्ट और साइंस का मेल हुआ, जिससे पार्टिसिपेंट्स को एवोल्यूशन, जानवरों और बायोडायवर्सिटी की थीम को एक्सप्रेस करने का मौका मिला। जोड़ियों में काम करते हुए, स्टूडेंट्स ने क्रिएटिविटी, रेलिवेंस और आर्टिस्टिक स्किल दिखाई। इवेंट का समापन जजों के सम्मान और विजेताओं को अवॉर्ड देने के साथ हुआ, जिससे सभी लोग डार्विन की हमेशा रहने वाली विरासत से इंस्पायर और तारीफ़ करने लगे। ✨✨

ALBATROSS, the Department of Zoology, Gargi College successfully conducted ALUMCONNECT – 03 featuring Ms. Kirti (Integrated PhD, Biology, IISER Pune).
The session offered valuable insights into TIFR/IISER Pune admissions, aptitude-based preparation strategies, interdisciplinary learning, and effective exam planning. It was an engaging and enriching interaction that helped students gain clarity about research pathways and higher studies in biological sciences.

Albatross- The Zoological Society of Gargi College conducted their inaugural ceremony encompassing the investiture ceremony of the newly elected council and an extempore competition titled ‘Echoes of the Wild’ on the 1st of October, 2025 during the ECA break, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. The event started off with assigning the topics to the participants, which included an animal and the issue faced by the animal, followed by pinning of the badges to the incoming council. The council pledged to uphold their duties with integrity, dedication and leadership. Then participants showcased their eloquence, spontaneity and impeccable oration. With limited time to prepare, they displayed clarity of thought, quick thinking and confidence in delivery. Together, the events highlighted both the spirit of expression, and the values of leadership, leaving everyone inspired and energised.

Hi! I’m Anushka Singh, President of Albatross- The zoological society of Gargi college , for the tenure 2025-26.
I like to think of myself as an optimist, who is just a little firm to push the team towards their best potential. Balancing society work, assignments, and the chaos of college life isn’t easy, but I try to hold on to my calm and patience through it all. In the rare quiet moments, you would find me buried in a psychological thriller or listening to soothing classics from the 60s. ( Very contrasting hobbies I know hahaha)
This year, I hope we build a space where ideas feel welcomed, where we encourage one another with compassion, and where our efforts truly matter.

I identify as kind, helpful, dependable and just the right amount of quirky to keep life interesting. I like to lead with warmth, wit and occasional chaos management 😀. Even with responsibilities piled higher than my saved “ ” instagram reels I’ll never actually try , I stay energetically involved in everything. I’m a genuine animal enthusiast who would rather be in forest spotting birds than in a classroom studying about them. I’m also a foodie who pretends to eat healthy until dessert makes eye contact with me ✨😍

Hi everyone! I’m Abhisvara Sharma, The General Secretary of Albatross - The Zoological Society of Gargi College.

It feels like just yesterday that I stepped into college and heard about this society for the very first time - and now here I am, part of the Union.

I’m someone who loves clarity, depth, and putting genuine effort into everything I do - from helping friends to turning assignments into mini-textbooks. I believe in sincerity, teamwork, and creating a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas.
