On 4th May 2023, the Placement and Internship Committee of Law Centre -I organised a seminar on the theme "Pathways to a successful legal career: Navigating the challenges and opportunities ahead."
Our first speaker, Mr. Dipti Lavya Swain is presently the Founder & Managing Partner of DLS Law Offices. He has substantial experience in rendering transactional advisory & legal assistance to foreign & domestic investors as well as corporate houses. He explained that learning lies beyond books and practical exposure is must to gain knowledge in the legal field. He also emphasized the need for students to acquire the necessary legal understanding through internships and training.
The second speaker, Mr. MATHEWS V.C. is presently the Group Head for IP Practice at Fox Mandal , New Delhi. He has an extensive work experience of around 14 years in Trade Mark, Copyright and Design prosecution and handles both Indian and International clients.
He emphasized the ever-evolving nature of the legal profession and the need for lawyers to keep up with new legal developments, especially in areas such as technology and artificial intelligence.
He enlightened the students about the significance of soft skills and laid due emphasis on legal research, drafting and vetting.
Our final speaker for the day, Mr. Hemant K Rajora is presently the General Manager – Legal at Indraprastha Gas Limited and has a experience of over 20+ years as in-house counsel with reputed Maharatna Public Sector Enterprises such as IGL,Adani Total Gas, GAIL & NTPC. He gave a reality check about the oil and natural gas sector, how to build career opportunities in that and provided valuable insights on the same.
The legal career-oriented seminar was an enlightening experience for aspiring law students looking to embark on a legal career. The seminar highlights the critical aspects of a legal career, including education, training, networking, professionalism, and integrity.
We are looking forward to more such seminars, workshops, training sessions in the near future. And we are thankful to all the teachers and student members of the Placement and Internship committee for making the event a huge success.
