The English Literary Society of Indraprastha College for Women takes immense pleasure in inviting you to the Annual Inter-college Students’ Paper Presentation scheduled to be held on 24 February 2022, Thursday.

The theme chosen for this year’s presentation is *Writing at the Margins: Inclusion, Exclusion, and the idea of the ‘Literary’*

The idea of this conference is to table discussions around the ideas of marginality, questions of inclusivity and the concept of the literary in view of these ideas.
We’re inviting original research papers from undergraduate students across all colleges and universities.

Those interested, please note-

1. Abstracts should be sent via email to [email protected] by 12 February 2022. Abstracts need not be more than 300 words, sent as a word document.

2. The email subject line should read- ‘Abstract: Title of the Paper’

3. Please ensure that the following information is included in the email of the body-
Full Name(s), College, Course, Semester, Contact Number and Email Id

4. The time limit for the Paper Presentation will be 8 Minutes (presentation) + 2 Minutes (Q/A round).

5. There will be 3 prize winning papers.
1st- 2000
2nd- 1500
3rd- 1000

6. The prize-winning entries will be published in the annual academic journal of the Department of English, Inkspill.

7. Plagirism will be penalised.

The Department of English, Indraprastha College for Women, takes immense pleasure in welcoming you to its event- A Talk by Alumna Dr. Madri Kakoti.

The title of the talk is ‘The Language of Dissent: Scuplting my Personal and my Political at IP’

Dr. Madri Kakoti is an Alumna of IP College for Women, currently teaching Sociolinguistics and Neurolinguistics at the University of Lucknow as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics. Dr. Kakoti is working on the endangered languages of Himachal Pradesh in the Rahul project initiated by Prof. Kavita Rastogi and the Society for Endangered and Lesser Known Languages.

The English Literary Society is proud to present Inkspill 2020-21, the annual academic magazine of the department. The overarching theme for this year was “Pandemics, Pestilence, Privacy: Literary and Artistic Frames”. The award-winning papers written on the topic by Apoorva Kapur, Shambhavi Misra, and Bhumika Khatri and Muskan Gupta have been published in this journal.

The English Literary Society of Indraprastha College for Women takes immense pleasure in inviting you to a talk by Prof Tanika Sarkar, THE WOMAN AND THE WORLD: RASHSUNDARI DEBI AND THE BEGINNING OF LIFE WRITING IN BENGAL.
Tanika Sarkar retired as a Professor of History at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. She has taught at St. Stephen’s College and Indraprastha College for Women, Delhi University. She also taught Modern Indian History at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on the rise of the Hindu right in India with an emphasis on its impact on women and the intersections of religion, gender, and politics in both colonial and postcolonial South Asia. Sarkar earned a B.A. in History from Presidency College, University of Calcutta in 1972 and a degree in Modern History from the University of Calcutta in 1974. She received her PhD from the University of Delhi in 1981. Sarkar is the author of many books including “Hindu Wife, Hindu Nation: Community, Religion and Cultural Nationalism” and “Rebels, Wives, Saints: Designing Selves and Nations in Colonial Times”. She has also published monographs such as “Bengal 1928-1934: The Politics of Protest”, “Words to Win: The Making of Amar Jiban: A Modern Autobiography”, “Khaki Shorts and Saffron Flags: A Critique of the Hindu Right” and many more.

AALIYAH TAYYABI – she is a senior project manager in OHP and has been documenting first hand accounts of 1947 partition and the formative years of Pakistan since 2014. With a degree in Social Anthropology, she has been using oral histories as a tool to create content to educate and engage with a varied audience on the importance of South Asian history.

The English Literary Society of Indraprastha College for Women takes immense pleasure in inviting you to our event REVERSE-SWING: INTERROGATING "INDIAN ENGLISH" FROM THE MARGINS by poet, Chandramohan Sathyanathan. The talk will be followed by a poetry reading session and Q&A round.

Chandramohan Sathyanathan (b.1986) is an Indian English language Dalit poet and literary critic based in Trivandrum, Kerala. His accolades include being on the shortlist for the Srinivas Rayaprol Poetry Prize 2016 and a fellowship at the International Writing Program, University of Iowa, 2018. His book of poems titled 𝘓𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘕𝘢𝘮𝘥𝘦𝘰 𝘋𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭, 2016, was on the shortlist for the Yuva Puraskar of Sahitya Akademi. In the year 2016, Outlook magazine profiled him as one of the high achievers from the Dalit community. 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘉𝘢𝘣𝘦𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘖𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘗𝘰𝘦𝘮𝘴 was published in 2020.

Greetings!

The English Literary Society of Indraprastha College for Women is organizing an inter-college STUDENTS' PAPER PRESENTATION on 19th February, 2021. The theme chosen for this presentation is PANDEMICS, PESTILENCE, PRIVACY: LITERARY AND ARTISTIC FRAMES.

The aim of this paper presentation is to discuss, debate and deliberate on the changing dynamics induced by the pandemics in our personal and political lives as individuals and as a collective, and its representation in art and literature.

We would like to invite original research papers by undergraduate students across all colleges and universities for the same.

Those interested should note:
1) An abstract regarding their chosen topic of research should be sent via email to [email protected] no later than 11:59 PM on 11th FEBRUARY, 2021. The abstract should not exceed 300 words and needs to be sent in a Word file format. The subject line of the email should be filled in as 'Abstract: Title of the Paper'.

2) Please ensure that the following information is included in the email body - full name(s), college, course, semester, contact number and email ID.
Those selected will be notified via email soon after the deadline.

3) Time limit for the presentation is 8 Mins (presentation) + 2 Mins (Question and Answer round)
