October 23-25, 2024 | Delhi Technological University (Formerly Delhi College of Engineering) I IMechE DTU Chapter

The eagerly anticipated workshop on "Revolutionizing Transportation: The Role of Renewable Fuels and Engine Tribology" began on October 23, 2024, at DTU. This event brought together experts and innovators to explore sustainable solutions in transportation, emphasizing renewable fuels and advanced tribology.

Day 1 Highlights
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. P.B. Sharma, Founder Vice Chancellor of DTU, who stressed the need for clean energy and sustainability. He urged the young generation to innovate in bio-based hydrogen, electric vehicles (EVs), and waste-to-value technologies, such as converting parali (crop stubble) into valuable products. His vision for a green future inspired participants to contribute to India's sustainable energy transition.

Shri Sunil Dhingra, an expert in sustainable energy, focused on Compressed Bio-Natural Gas (CBG) as a key biofuel for India’s net-zero targets and a solution for waste management in metro cities. He shared real-world case studies illustrating how biofuels can address environmental challenges and urban waste crises.

Shri Sharif Qamar gave an overview of climate change and the urgent need to decarbonize India’s energy sector. He outlined the policy frameworks and technologies that could propel India toward a low-carbon future, igniting discussions on renewable energy’s role in revolutionizing industries, especially transportation.

Prof. R.K. Pandey discussed the significance of smart lubrication technologies in reducing friction and wear, enhancing engine efficiency, and promoting sustainable manufacturing practices. His insights into advanced tribology offered participants new ways to rethink engine performance in eco-friendly transportation systems.
