Glimpses from the International Youth Day Celebrations jointly convened by UNESCO MGIEP and the Faculty of Arts, Media and Design (FAMD), South Asian University.

Celebrated on 12 August 2026 at the South Asian University (SAU) campus in New Delhi, this event witnessed the Grand Finale of the first ever UNESCO MGIEP India-wide Youth Debate on Peaceful and Sustainable Futures. Judges for this Grand Finale included Professor Professor Ramesh C Gaur, Dean, FAMD; Ms. Ma'aly Hazzaz, Advisor Information Communication, UNESCO; and Ms. Vandita Morarka, Human Rights Lawyer and Founder & CEO, One Future Collective.

Present at the event were dignitaries including Prof. Prof. K.K. Aggarwal, President, SAU, Obijiofor Aginam, Director, UNESCO MGIEP, Adv. Abhishek Kumar — The Sangyan, Member, UNESCO Youth Advisory Group, Dr. Dr. Mohit Soni, CEO, Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC).

The event also witnessed launch of the UNESCO MGIEP’s Mini Youth Strategy.

Students from departments across SAU put forth a painting exhibition and a dance recital under the mentorship of Prof Sushmita Bala. The Antraal theatre group - अंतराल नाट्यकला समूह showcased a thought-provoking theatre performance.

During the programme, five exceptional student films were also screened. These were evaluated by Mr. M. K. Raina veteran Theatre Director and Actor, Prof. Prof. Viveck Vaswani Producer, Director, Writer and Actor, and Dr. Shruti Nagpal.

UNESCO MGIEP's Youth Advisory Group came to Rafooghar to learn how embroidery mends what words can't. Stitch by stitch, they built something bigger than fabric they built love, compassion, and solidarity woven into every patch.
