❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗
We the DRC students strongly raise our voices against the stagnant governing body of the college headed by the non cooperative chairperson in being thorougly incompetent in releasing appropriate funds to the college administration for the infrastructure renovation project which includes providing basic amenities like drinking water, clean toilets, proper classrooms, wifi etc.The infrastructural conditions in the college are so despicable that the building has just 1/2 functional washrooms for the entire college which are unbelievably unhygeinic and there are old classrooms whose rooftops seem to come down any moment making it unsafe for everyone in the premises.

There has been an exorbitant fee hike by the management and we the student community resist strongly the continued high handedness of the governing body over the college administration. Also considering that the governing body is not recognizing the newly appointed hostel warden who was elected unanimously by the staff council as per the university ordinances and that it still continues to back faithfully the older matron who was inhumane and toxic, worries us students greatly about the vested interests of the chairperson. It is utterly abominable that the governing body has frozen the hostel account which is a non bailable offence and is trying every bit to make the functioning of the hostel under the new warden more difficult and challenging. The previous matron who had retired in 2011 as the acting principal of the college continued to run the hostel illegally for the past 5 years and is still adamant to continue as the same and refuses to leave the hostel premises and most unfortunately is backed strongly by the uncompromising chairperson.Despite being the most expensive hostel in DU with fees of a skyrocketing 1 lakh+ amount,DRC hostellers have complained about lack of adequate furniture in rooms, unclean drinking water, absurd rules on dressing, constant emotional torturing by the matron, moral policing, serious defamation of selected students, hurting of religious sentiments like muslim girls repeatedly questioned for their choice of hijab and halal food, massive failure in providing services as mentioned in the hostel prospectus,a complete opacity of the handling of the funds and much more.

Also we would like to reiterate that we strongly condemn the encroachement of our spaces by political party workers like that of ABVP who claimed to be our representatives in the protest held today in front of VCs office when ironically both the student and teacher communities pleaded them to move away from the forefront and to avoid raising problematic slogans in a secular academic space. There was a violent confrontation between the riotous ABVP workers who are not even part of the college and DUTA members who were supporting the delegation of the DRC teachers who were to be allowed in the VC office but returned back in vain.We the students of DRC solicit support from outsiders who are interested in joining hands for our cause but vociferously condemn any attempt to advance vested political interests among otherwise apolitical students.

We DRCians will fight for OUR cause with OUR teachers for OUR future

Forward this message as widely as possible
