Hello friends 🌸

The power of the written word lies in its ability to allow people to carve their own space for greater engagement with the world and themselves. Similarly, newspapers are integral for the health of a society as they facilitate communication across the nation. Come join us in an attempt to *Recreate and trace history through its depiction in the newspapers*.

We promise you a free space to express your thoughts by *creating collages, poetry, artwork* using these newspapers. Each person can pick any of the three prompts (culture, politics and environment) to centre their art around. Cut, copy and recreate!

Date: *30th March 2019*
Timings: *1:45-3:00pm*
Venue: *New Common Room*

Hello friends 🌸

As scholars, we have placed a lot of emphasis on the indispensable role of the written word. Over time, the vitality of oral communication in academic spaces has been lost. We bring together themes of resistance art and youth culture to revive the spirit of the interactive dialogue. Through music, art, poetry and cinema we hope to capture the essence of conflict and voices. *Socio Adda* is a stage for change and you are invited!

Socio Adda will be an informed student's discussion on *Resistance Art and Youth Cultures*. Come join us and be part of our little resistance.

Date: *29th March 2019*
Timings: *3-4pm*
Venue: *New Common Room*

Hello friends 🌸

Sociology as a discipline brings within its purview issues and concepts that have a bearing, direct and indirect, upon any society. In other words, there is no limit to what a sociological understanding can encompass. Keeping this characteristic feature in mind, our theme for *Kula 2019*, *'Histories and Memories'* operates with the objective of historicising these processes within different contexts and perspectives.
With this objective, we bring to you *Paper Presentations* for Kula 2019!

Date: *29th March 2019*
Timings: *1:15-2:45pm*
Venue: *New Conference Hall*

We offer better lenses than Lenskart!!
Yes, Yes! You read that right! We take pride in our sociological lenses because we are * *!

The *Department of Sociology, LSR*, invited you to tell us whatever you wanna say through a poem, a song, a dance or theatrical performance , we have keenly hearing faculties, appreciating applaudes, and a social recognition in the student community to offer back to you. From a student perspective, the participant-centered nature of the case method generates greater expectations and opportunities for feedback as compared to monotonous pedagogies.

P.S:- You dont have to burden yourself with the baggage of making it sociological. Whatever you do is socio. Further, we have our lenses on, the socio ones!

*The Sociology Department of Lady Shri Ram college*, as part of Kula 2019 brings to you, a panel discussion called *‘Memories from the Margins’*, where we hope to learn something about perspectives that skirt the edges of mainstream history, and in that manner constitute it. The aim of our panel would be to widen the traditional understanding of memory through the examination and inclusion of voices that are left out of conventional narratives.

Our esteemed speakers for the event are
1. *Abhay Xaxa*-An Adivasi activist from Tribal Intellectual Collective India
2. *Heba Ahmed*: PHD Research Scholar, Centre for political studies in JNU
3. *Jenny Rowena*: Professor of English at Miranda House

*Date: 29th March,2019*
*Time: 10:30-12:30*
*Venue: New conference hall*
