17th Annual Sports Meet at GGSIPU - Day 3 Volleyball (Women)

The final day of the 17th Annual GGSIPU Sports Meet saw a power-packed display of smashes and blocks with the Girls' Volleyball Teams of USS and JIMS (Gr. Noida) competing with unmatched energy and a remarkable feat.

The USS girls coming in third showed such a mixed set of emotions that our audience and the judges felt proud and emotional simultaneously. "Perplexed, happy, content, exhausted. All the feelings I feel right now, are summed up", this is how overwhelmed with emotions our enthused participants were today. "A beautiful journey with an end that taught us more than books ever could", was the deep reaction of the JIMS Volleyball Team looking at the crimson sky with the light of the sun shining in their eyes brighter than ever.

The sound of "block kar, pass de" coupled with whistles and timers filled the sky with a confusing yet interesting air. Calling the match one of the most intriguing in years, our judges were in awe of the performance of all competitors.
Bagging the 3rd position, the girls of USS not only did us all proud but added to the series of laurels that made every single moment of preparation, worry and fatigue worth it!

17th Annual Sports Meet at GGSIPU - Day 3 Volleyball (Men)

With the trophy in sight and the ball passing from one hand to another, the Boys' Volleyball Team of USS bagged the 1st Position outdoing their tough competition by the equally lively boys of MAIT.
It seemed that the crowd saw the scales tilting towards MAIT, cheering on for the fervent underdogs only for the USS lions to take the resounding cheer as a challenge that they most definitely won!

Every serve brought with it a new sense of worry and victory, enthralling the audience and filling the sky with cheers, hoots and slogans.
Getting a good streak right before the timeout, the USS boys stroke a dynamic comeback at their MAIT counterparts. This, however, failed to demotivate the star players who continued to fight on with every ounce of energy in their muscles. Overjoyed with their valuable victory, the boys created such an uproar that they filled the ground with their jocular jumps and cheers!

17th Annual Sports Meet at GGSIPU -Day 3
CLOSING CEREMONY
Amid loud cheers and never-ending enthusiasm, the 17th Intercollegiate Sports meet of GGSIPU came to an end.
Be it participants or volunteers, teachers or the helping staff, all had a wide smile on their faces, indicating a successful concluding of a much awaited and Sought-after event.
Vice Chancellor, prof. Mahesh Verma thanked and appreciated the students and the faculty emphasising the important role they've played in making the event a memorable one.
Motivating the teams and students that could not win, the Prof. zealously asserted, "Mere liye aap sabhi jeete ho". Soon after, the prize distribution ceremony commenced, with the vivaciousness and fervor of teams reaching the sky.Trophies were handed over and medals were distributed by the respective deans of the colleges.
As the sun set and the sky turned purplish - orange, yet another edition of an amazing sports event came to an end.
No doubt, there were a few bumps on the otherwise smooth road of the sports event, but the right teams won, proving the idiom 'All's well that ends well'. Although the doors closed for this edition, another one opened wide, for many more tournaments to come.

17th Annual Sports Meet at GGSIPU - Day 2 Chess

“If we die, we are going down as the underdogs who never lost hope”
Before their final game today, in which they only needed a draw to win the entire competition, USS Chess had this to say. The match began with board 4 conceding their opponent BVCOE a victory, making it two wins on demand for USS Chess which was given by board 2 and board 3. The match on board 1 carried on for a whopping 136 moves, making it the longest match in the whole tournament. In the end, USS Chess won the first-ever chess tournament at the sports meet with a score of 2-2 in the championship match winning on tiebreaks.

It's very clear that USS Chess has improved a lot and is one of the strongest teams as they won both knockouts as well as the first three Swiss rounds against top IPU affiliations across the country with close to perfect scores. BVCOE came in second place, trailing USS by barely 0.5 game points, while USAR took third place after a dominant performance with a fresh team.
It was yet another successful chess event at IPU.
